That is not Ubisoft’s 4K/60 FPS tier: for that, the company listed GTX 1080 SLI or RX Vega 56 CFX. These are release-era configuration targets, not a guarantee of identical performance on every PC.
What are the Far Cry 5 PC system requirements?
Ubisoft published four configurations, ranging from 720p Low to 4K High/Ultra. The table below follows the January 2018 announcement; it keeps resolution, frame-rate target and preset together so the GTX 1070 listing is not mistaken for a 4K/60 FPS recommendation.

All four configurations above are Ubisoft’s published targets, not results from independent benchmark testing. The announcement does not establish that a listed GPU by itself guarantees the stated frame rate; the associated CPU, memory, resolution and preset are part of each configuration.
Can a GTX 1070 run Far Cry 5 at 4K?
Ubisoft listed the GTX 1070 for 4K at 30 FPS on High, alongside the RX Vega 56. Its 4K/60 FPS specification instead calls for GTX 1080 SLI or RX Vega 56 CFX, as well as a different CPU and the same 16 GB RAM requirement. So the accurate version of “GTX 1070 or better for 4K” is a 2018 Ubisoft target for 4K/30 FPS—not a blanket claim about 4K/60 FPS or current performance.

How do Ubisoft’s other PC listings differ?
Ubisoft Store
Ubisoft’s Store page lists Windows 10 64-bit, 40 GB of storage, and minimum and recommended GPU tiers of GTX 670/R9 270 and GTX 970/R9 290X, respectively. It also lists 8 GB RAM for those tiers. The Store page’s Windows 10-only presentation differs from the 2018 announcement, which includes Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 for minimum and recommended configurations. That difference between official listings does not, by itself, establish a change in the game’s underlying hardware needs.
Ubisoft Help
Ubisoft Help’s Spanish-language requirements article gives 720p/30 FPS minimum and 1080p/60 FPS recommended targets, then lists 4K/30 and 4K/60 tiers. It includes DirectX 12 for its 4K tiers and 40 GB storage. Its localized wording and some details differ from the original announcement, so treat it as a separate official listing rather than silently merging the variants. The support article says laptop versions of listed cards may be an option when their performance is similar to the minimum requirements; that caveat does not make every laptop GPU with a similar name equivalent to a desktop card.

Steam
Steam’s surfaced listing repeats the minimum and recommended GPU tiers, 40 GB storage and anti-cheat/anti-tamper notes, but does not show Ubisoft’s four-tier 4K information in the surfaced requirements excerpt.

In its January 2018 announcement, Ubisoft said the PC version would include a benchmark feature and a video-memory usage meter to help players assess their systems and adjust visual options. The announcement also describes support for aspect-ratio options, field-of-view adjustment, optional FPS locking and resolution scaling. Ubisoft producer Kirill Bragin said the game would auto-detect a player’s hardware and set a matching quality preset and resolution. These are features Ubisoft described for the PC version; they do not replace checking performance on a particular system.
