Lumina Points are each character’s budget for equipping learned passive effects in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Points do not raise an unspecified stat while unused; they let you select more or higher-cost Luminas for that character.
What Lumina Points, Luminas, and Pictos do

- Picto: equipment associated with stats and a passive effect.
- Lumina: a passive effect that a character has learned from a Picto and can select through the Lumina interface.
- Lumina Points: the character-specific capacity spent to equip learned Luminas.
Think of points as capacity and Luminas as the effects you fit into it. Each effect has a cost, and the total cost of a character’s selected Luminas must fit within that character’s available points. Points are not a general attack resource or a stat bonus in themselves.
How Pictos relate to Luminas
A guide to the system says that keeping a Picto equipped through battles can teach its passive as a Lumina. Once learned, the effect can be selected in the Lumina interface and uses the character’s point budget. A community-maintained mechanics page adds that a Picto’s passive can work while the Picto itself is equipped without spending Lumina Points, whereas equipping its learned Lumina on another character uses that character’s points. Because that distinction is documented by a community page rather than official instructions, check the current in-game menu to confirm how the effect is handled in your version.

How characters gain Lumina Points
The consulted guide reports two ways to increase a character’s available points:
- Level up: characters gain Lumina Points as they level.
- Use a Colour of Lumina: the consumable permanently adds a point to the character selected for the upgrade.
The point increase belongs to the character receiving it. If you are short on capacity, consider which character needs room for the Luminas you actually want to equip rather than treating the points as a shared party pool.

Where to use a Colour of Lumina
According to the guide, open the “Upgrade Expedition Resources” interface. In Act I, access it at camp with the Curator; from Act II onward, access it from an Expedition Flag. Menu labels and access can change with updates, so follow the current prompts in your game if the route differs.
How to decide what to equip
Open the character’s Lumina selection and compare the point cost shown for each learned effect with the points available to that character. For example, if a character hypothetically has 8 points and a chosen set of effects costs 3, 2, and 2, that loadout uses 7 points and fits; adding a 2-point effect would bring the total to 9, so it would not fit without changing the selection or increasing capacity. These figures are only an illustration, not specific in-game costs.

There is no complete authoritative current cost list established here. Check each effect’s cost in your own game, and choose based on the character and party role rather than assuming one universal loadout is best. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to receive updates; its official Steam page surfaced a patch notice dated June 30, 2026, so interface details and balance can be version-sensitive: official Steam listing.
