What does the Rotwood leak actually indicate?
A report published September 23, 2026, says SteamDB backend records included a Rotwood DLC 1 package labeled “Limited Free Promotional Package – Oct 2026.” The report describes it as apparently intended for existing Rotwood owners. That is a reported backend signal, not an official Steam announcement; the report does not establish exact claim times, an expiration date, or the full October lineup. Read the report.

Free to Keep, Free to Play, and Free Weekend are different
Valve describes Free to Keep as a time-limited giveaway or 100% discount: claim the qualifying item during the promotion and it remains in your Steam library after the offer ends. This differs from Free to Play, which is permanently free to acquire, and from a Free Weekend, which provides temporary access that ends unless you buy the game. Valve’s Steamworks guidance says a Free to Keep promotion must run for at least 24 hours so customers across time zones have an equal opportunity to claim it.

- Open the item’s live Steam store page from the Steam client or a trusted promotion tracker.
- Confirm whether the listing is a game, DLC, or cosmetic package, and read any requirement to own the base game.
- Check the offer’s displayed start and expiration time on that live page. Do not rely on a predicted date from a backend listing.
- Use the page’s claim or add-to-account option while the offer is active, then verify that the item appears in your Steam library or account.
The SteamDB tracker is useful for discovery, but the live Steam listing is the practical place to verify the item, eligibility, and deadline. The evidence here does not verify a particular next full-game store page or its availability by region.
