Yes, an unofficial community project called NvStrapsReBar can enable and test Resizable BAR on some Nvidia Turing GTX 16-series and RTX 20-series graphics cards. It is not an Nvidia-supported feature toggle: the documented method modifies and flashes a motherboard UEFI image, then uses a Windows utility. Whether it works depends on the specific GPU, motherboard and firmware, and the firmware work carries real risk.
What Resizable BAR does—and what it does not promise
Nvidia describes Resizable BAR as an optional PCI Express interface feature that lets the CPU access a larger portion of the GPU frame buffer. That can allow graphics assets to be requested and transferred in larger or concurrent operations. It describes a data-access mechanism, not a guarantee of higher frame rates in every game.
Nvidia’s public setup and firmware support documentation is for RTX 30-series GPUs, not Turing. Its March 30, 2021 explanation of RTX 30 Series Resizable BAR reports game-dependent results: some supported games benefited by a few percent, up to 12%, while others regressed. Nvidia said it used game profiles to enable the feature where its testing found a positive impact. Those results are not benchmarks of NvStrapsReBar or Turing cards.
What NvStrapsReBar changes
NvStrapsReBar is a community project that describes a UEFI driver and Windows executable for enabling and testing ReBAR on Turing GTX 1600- and RTX 2000-series cards. The project method inserts its DXE driver into a motherboard UEFI image and flashes the modified firmware. Afterward, users configure the relevant UEFI settings and run the Windows executable as administrator to save the configuration. These are project instructions, not Nvidia instructions.

The project README links users to its release and build instructions and related ReBarUEFI documentation for editing firmware images. This is not a universal flashing recipe: the correct image, firmware procedure and recovery options depend on the exact motherboard and firmware. The project’s known-working GPU and motherboard reports are compatibility evidence for reported combinations, not proof that every Turing card or board is supported.

In a May 22, 2023 response on the Nvidia Developer Forums, representative MarkusHoHo said: “Adding the Resizable BAR feature to older GPUs is not as simple as one might think. But regardless, whether this is possible or not and whether NVIDIA decides to do this or not is an entirely internal process that we cannot discuss publicly. That is why I am not able to give you an answer to your question.” This records Nvidia’s public position at that time; it does not explain or validate the community mod.

Risks and configuration caveats
Flashing a modified motherboard UEFI is a consequential firmware change. The project documents that its method depends on the GPU BAR0 address assigned by system firmware, and that changes to UEFI settings disable its configuration. It also instructs users to disable NvStrapsReBar before hardware changes, such as adding another GPU. These cautions make compatibility and recovery planning important; available information does not establish a failure rate or mean every installation will damage a board.
For older motherboards without a ReBAR menu, the project describes enabling Above 4G Decoding and disabling CSM. Those settings are project-specific guidance, not a guarantee that a particular board will work. Follow the instructions for the exact project release and board, and do not treat a generic firmware image or another user’s success as evidence that it is safe for your system.

Should you try it on a GTX 1660 or RTX 2060?
Only consider it if your exact GPU, motherboard and firmware have credible compatibility evidence and you understand the board-specific firmware modification and recovery implications. The fact that a card is a GTX 1660 or RTX 2060 does not establish compatibility by itself.

- If your goal is more FPS: do not assume a gain. Nvidia’s “up to 12%” result is from its 2021 testing of supported RTX 30-series configurations, and some tested games performed worse; it is not a Turing-mod result.
