The clearest documented check is proximity: some town and Legion-base dummies use attack skills only while a player is near them.
First, identify what is not working
These symptoms have different explanations, so check what you can actually observe before treating the dummy as broken:
- The dummy is missing: Check a town or Legion hideout, and consider whether your game version includes that location’s dummy.
- The dummy does not attack you: Move close to it. The July 22, 2026 AION 2 Korea update notes say that attack-skill dummies use their skills only while a player is near.
- Your attacks do not register: This is an in-game symptom; the available update notes do not establish a general fix for it.
- A DPS meter shows no damage or a different result: Check whether the game itself registers your hits. A missing meter result is a separate third-party tool issue, not proof that the dummy is broken.
Dummy not attacking: move closer
The July 22, 2026 update notes say some dummies in towns and Legion bases were changed to use attack skills, and specify: “Attack-skill dummies only use skills while you are near the dummy.” If you expect a dummy to attack, approach it and see whether its behavior changes.
This note concerns dummies that use attack skills; it does not say that every training dummy attacks. It also does not describe a player-facing setting to turn dummy attacks on or off.

Dummy missing: check a town or Legion hideout
Dummy availability can depend on location and game version. The July 22 update identifies town and Legion-base dummies, while a January 14, 2026 update notice says a training dummy was added to the Legion hideout. If you cannot find one where you are, check one of those locations rather than assuming every area has a dummy.
Your attacks are not registering on the dummy
The reviewed update notes document the proximity condition for dummy attack skills, but do not provide a fix for player attacks that fail to register. The reviewed official AION 2 Steam announcements included a known-issues notice dated October 4, 2026; its visible list did not mention training dummies. That does not rule out an unlisted or later-reported problem.

If the game itself is not registering hits after you have confirmed the location and symptom, check current official announcements or report the behavior through the game’s support channels. The available sources do not establish a relog, settings change, or dummy reset as a fix.

If hits appear to register in the game but a meter is blank or disagrees with other players, make sure you are hitting the same dummy as they are. The README for a community-maintained AION 2 DPS meter says its calculation uses the monster receiving the most total damage and advises users to hit the same training dummy as the other players shown on the meter. This is guidance for interpreting that third-party meter, not an official in-game repair.
