For a space idle game with satellites, Incremental Orbits is the clearest match: you discover planets, launch satellites with different jobs, and build a space-company economy. For a shorter, story-led space clicker, choose SPACEPLAN, which pairs manual clicking and elapsed-time progression with probes and a comic mystery across five planets and two realities.

Which space incremental game should you play?

Game Best fit Core progression Exploration hook
Incremental Orbits Satellite and space-company management Discover planets, launch satellites, research upgrades, and grow money and resources Planets generate income after discovery; satellites can support income, science points, or resource extraction
SPACEPLAN Humorous, story-forward sci-fi clicking Click manually and let time pass to create and launch potato-based devices and probes A satellite orbiting a mysterious planet begins a story spanning five planets and two realities

These are two different answers to “best incremental games about space”: one puts management and satellite functions first, while the other makes clicking and a planetary story its draw. The comparison is based on each game’s official Steam description, not a playtime or performance test.

Incremental Orbits: the direct choice for satellites

Incremental Orbits on Steam is a short incremental management game from developer and publisher bytecatch, released August 24, 2026. Its premise is running a space company: discover planets, launch satellites, research upgrades, and grow money and resources. The store listing describes a long-term goal of making the sun explode and turning it into a black hole.

How its space progression works

  • Discover planets; once found, they generate income.
  • Launch satellites and choose among their different in-game roles, including generating income, earning science points, or extracting resources.
  • Research upgrades and expand the company’s resources.

This makes Incremental Orbits the strongest fit here if the satellite itself is central to what you want to do. Steam’s user-defined tags include Incremental, Idler, Space, Exploration, and Management; those are player-applied descriptors, not a formal genre certification.

#1 Best Overall
For All Mankind - Board Game -Strategy Game - Space Exploration Game, 1-4 Players, Ages 14 and up
  • ORBITING PLANETS: As you play, the planets orbit around the sun, creating an ever-changing strategic landscape.
  • HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS: Thick board with precise and thoughtful design to create a seamless play experience.
  • FLEXIBLE PLAYER COUNT: Play with 4 players or use the "Bot Rules" to fill out any empty spots around the table.
  • GREAT FOR GAME NIGHTS: 60-90 minute playtime, only 15 minutes to learn, good for ages 14+.
  • MANY WAYS TO WIN: Invest heavily in research, get sneaky with espionage, or build a resource-rich empire! There's no one way to become the interplanetary champion!

Steam’s listing calls the game short, so it is better approached as a compact incremental-management experience than as a proven long campaign or deep space simulation. At the time checked in 2026, 87% of 24 Steam user reviews were positive; that is a small, changing snapshot rather than a stable measure of quality.

SPACEPLAN: a story-led space clicker

SPACEPLAN on Steam was released May 3, 2017, developed by Jake Hollands and published by Devolver Digital. Its official description starts with a satellite orbiting a mysterious planet. You use manual clicks and the passage of time to create and launch potato-based devices and probes.

Late for The Sky Space-Opoly Space Adventure Board Game for 2-6 Players
  • For 2-6 players
  • Traditional play or one-hour version
  • Great family fun
  • Package dimension : 15.375" L x 10.625" W x 2.0625" H

What makes its exploration different

  • Unlock 15 items as the story progresses.
  • Follow a comic sci-fi mystery framed around five planets and two realities.
  • Use both active clicking and time-based progression rather than relying only on satellite management.

SPACEPLAN suits players looking for a compact, humorous clicker with a narrative thread. Its deliberately silly premise is part of the appeal; the game is not presented as a realistic spaceflight simulation. Steam’s listing showed 90% positive from 2,102 English-language reviews at the time checked in 2026, a changing store snapshot rather than an enduring rating.

How to choose between them

  • Choose Incremental Orbits if discovering planets, assigning satellite functions, and growing a space-company economy are the main attractions.
  • Choose SPACEPLAN if you want clicking, idle time progression, quirky devices, and a comic planetary mystery.

Both have Steam store listings. Check the current listing for price, regional availability, and review totals, which can change. The available descriptions do not establish comparable completion times, so there is no sound basis for claiming one offers a longer run than the other.
