In Solo Leveling: ARISE, weapon types describe equipment and its effects; hunter roles describe how a character fights or supports the team. They overlap, but they are not interchangeable: a weapon’s shape does not, by itself, define a hunter’s role, and the sources available here do not establish a complete current weapon catalogue or a universal role taxonomy.
Weapon type and hunter role mean different things
A weapon description helps answer what equipment a character uses and what gameplay effects it provides. A hunter description may identify that character’s combat type, element, or specialty. Netmarble’s official game page uses labels such as “Mage-type hunter” for Choi Jong-In and “Healer” for Lee Joohee. Those examples show the kinds of character descriptions the game uses, not a definitive list of mutually exclusive roles.
Keep the distinction practical: consider the character’s documented specialty and the weapon’s stated effects separately. A weapon family can shape combat without fully describing everything its user can do.
What the documented examples show
| Example | Documented description or effect | What it illustrates |
|---|---|---|
| Choi Jong-In | Netmarble describes him as a Mage-type hunter on its official game page. | A hunter description can identify a combat type. |
| Lee Joohee | Netmarble identifies her as a Healer on its official game page. | A hunter description can identify a support specialty. |
| Antoine Martinez | In its May 7, 2026 announcement, Netmarble describes axe-based attacks and a skill effect that restores HP to allies; it also uses the label “Light Elemental Stacker.” | An axe-focused kit can combine combat and ally-support effects. The weapon’s form alone does not capture the character’s full function. |
These are examples, not a complete official role system. In particular, Antoine’s axe attacks and ally HP restoration show why it is safer to read a hunter’s actual skill effects than to infer a role from a weapon’s real-world name.

Can hunters use each other’s weapons?
Google Play’s weapon guide says weapons can be equipped to other hunters, while their unique abilities work best for the hunter they were made for. That means compatibility and synergy are separate questions: a weapon may be equippable on another character without being the intended or most effective match.
When choosing equipment, check both the weapon’s listed effect and the intended user. Do not assume that cross-equipping makes every weapon’s unique ability equally suitable for every hunter.

Weapon families can change specific combat mechanics
A Netmarble developer note says bow or gun weapons increase Sung Jinwoo’s Core Attack and Weapon Skill Damage. This is a specific mechanic for those weapon families and Jinwoo; it should not be generalized to all weapons, hunters, or weapon effects.
For that reason, weapon types are best understood through their in-game effects, not just through assumptions about range or fighting style based on a weapon’s name.

Is there a complete list of weapon types and hunter roles?
The sources cited here provide individual character descriptions and weapon mechanics, but not a single current official reference covering every weapon family and every hunter role. The community-maintained Fandom wiki distinguishes between player/Jinwoo weapons and hunter weapons; treat that as secondary background rather than an official, exhaustive taxonomy.
There is not enough evidence here to rank every weapon or name a universally best weapon for each role. For a particular hunter, use the current in-game descriptions to confirm the available equipment, effects, and intended-user synergy.
