1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsJapan residents who meet Sony’s account and playtime requirements can apply for a PS5 Pro through Sony Store by October 7, 2026, at 23:59 JST. If eligible applications exceed Sony’s planned allocation, it will hold a lottery; selected applicants are expected to hear from October 26 and must complete checkout by November 2 at 11:59 JST. This route is not an open sale, and Sony ships it only within Japan.
Apply through Sony Store by October 7
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PS5 Pro purchase-application notice says applications are open through October 7, 2026, at 23:59 JST. Apply using the form linked from that campaign page while signed in to the Sony account you intend to use. Sony checks eligibility after applications close. If eligible demand exceeds the planned number of units, it will draw winners rather than sell a console to every applicant.

Sony expects to begin contacting selected applicants around October 26, 2026. A selected applicant must use the dedicated online Sony Store checkout page and complete the purchase by November 2, 2026, at 11:59 JST. A physical Sony Store cannot process this purchase. Sony says it may hold another drawing from November onward for units that remain unpurchased.

- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
- You must live in Japan and use PlayStation online services with a Sony account registered in Japan.
- The account must show at least 60 total hours of PS5 and/or PS4 gameplay between September 27, 2024, and September 27, 2026, at 23:59 JST. That measurement window has closed; playtime added now does not count toward it.
- Your Sony account sign-in ID must be linked to your My Sony ID. Sony says accounts newly registered for My Sony ID from January 19, 2022, are already unified; older accounts, or people without a My Sony ID, may need to complete the linking process.
- Only one console per Sony account is allowed.
Because eligibility is tied to residence, account registration, and past playtime, this is not a practical route for visitors or nonresidents. Sony’s application notice says the offer ships within Japan only.

Use an email address you can access, and check spam filtering: Sony warns that carrier email addresses and iCloud addresses may not receive its email. Sony also says linking LINE after applying can enable winner notices through LINE.
Sony prohibits resale-purpose applications or purchases, and winner rights cannot be transferred. It may invalidate orders for missed deadlines, false registration details, an apparent resale purpose, or prohibited delivery changes. After ordering, you cannot change the address, request forwarding, or arrange pickup at a delivery center.
Budget for the console and any accessories you need
Sony’s Japan listing identifies the PS5 Pro as model CFI-7100B01, with a 2TB SSD and a suggested retail price of ¥137,980 including tax. The box includes one DualSense wireless controller, horizontal feet, an HDMI cable, a power cord, a USB cable, printed materials, and Astro’s Playroom preinstalled. See Sony’s PS5 Pro product page for its Japan specifications and included contents.
The Japan PS5 Pro is digital-only: it does not include a disc drive. Sony sells a compatible disc drive separately for playing disc-based PS5 or PS4 games and Blu-ray or DVD media. The vertical stand is also sold separately. Add either accessory to your budget only if your setup or game collection needs it.

Sony describes the Pro’s benefits as advanced ray tracing, sharper and clearer visuals on 4K televisions, and higher frame rates in supported games. These enhancements apply only to selected PS5 games and vary by game, so do not assume every title receives a Pro-specific upgrade.

Sony’s application is restricted to Japan residents with a Japan-registered account and qualifying past playtime. If you are not eligible, check PlayStation Japan’s buying guide and individual authorized retailers directly for current stock. The sources available here do not establish a named retailer’s inventory today, so treat a listing as available only when the seller’s current product or stock page confirms it.
Sony recommends buying new PlayStation products from authorized retailers; unauthorized sellers may offer stolen or fraudulent goods. For used consoles, Sony warns that warranty coverage may not apply. Its guidance is to assess the seller’s reputation, ask for evidence that controls, ports, and basic operation have been tested, inspect the console, confirm it can connect to PlayStation services, and be cautious of unusually low offers.
