TinyBlkDog’s Titanfall 2 VR mod requires Titanfall 2, Northstar, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC with what its README calls “a PC-VR-capable GPU.” It does not publish a minimum graphics card, CPU, or memory requirement. The documented test setup used a Quest 3 or Play For Dream MR headset through Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime, but those are tested examples—not mandatory hardware.
Which Titanfall 2 VR mod do these requirements cover?
These requirements are for TinyBlkDog’s Titanfall 2 VR plugin, a Northstar client plugin that hooks the game’s DirectX 11 renderer and camera and drives them from an OpenXR session. Its README identifies release v0.1.1 as alpha and limits play to the single-player campaign.
A separate project by CircuitLord also offers a Titanfall 2 VR installer. Its setup flow is different; do not mix its instructions with the manual plugin installation below.
What software and PC hardware do you need?
- Titanfall 2: Installed through Steam or the EA app. The TinyBlkDog README says the game binaries are identical for those stores.
- Northstar: Install it and confirm the game launches through Northstar before adding the VR plugin.
- An OpenXR runtime: The author developed and tested with Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime. The README requires an OpenXR runtime, not VDXR specifically.
- A PC-VR-capable GPU: That is the README’s qualitative wording. It specifies no minimum GPU model or tier, CPU, memory, or universal target frame rate.
Because there is no official minimum specification or GPU benchmark, a graphics card mentioned in the project’s test setup should not be treated as the minimum. Whether another PC works depends on its ability to sustain the target headset’s resolution and frame rate; the mod provides a resolution control for adjustment.

Which headsets and runtimes are documented as tested?
The project author reports testing on Meta Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR, both using Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime. The README describes other headsets and runtimes as “untested, not blocked.” In other words, the project has not documented tests for those combinations, but does not state they are incompatible.
VDXR is the documented test setup, not a stated requirement. For a headset/runtime combination not listed, the practical prerequisite is that the headset can connect to your PC and the setup can run through an OpenXR runtime; successful operation is not guaranteed by the project’s limited test coverage.

Do you need specific VR controllers?
The mod presents VR controllers to Titanfall 2 as an Xbox pad, so the game’s controller bindings apply. The project does not publish a required controller brand or a list of certified models. To open the in-headset settings panel, click both thumbsticks at the same time.
What PC was used for testing, and how should you tune performance?
The README’s reported test PC had a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, an RTX 5090, 32 GB of memory, and Windows 11. Testing used Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR headsets over Virtual Desktop. This is a test configuration, not a minimum specification or a performance guarantee for other systems.

The mod starts at 75% resolution and offers an in-headset Resolution setting up to 200%. The author says the mod does not measure your GPU; the lower default is intentional rather than an automatic match to the headset’s full panel resolution. Tune it based on what you see and how steadily the game runs:
- If frame rate is poor, lower the Resolution setting.
- If the image looks soft and frame rate remains stable, raise it.
- When comparing performance reports, include the Resolution setting; results at different settings are not directly comparable.
The project publishes no named, dated performance study or minimum-GPU benchmark, so these settings should not be read as benchmark results.

How do you install TinyBlkDog’s plugin?
- Install Northstar and confirm Titanfall 2 launches through it.
- Close the game.
- From the release archive, copy
titanfall2vr.dllandtitanfall2vr.iniintoTitanfall2R2Northstarplugins. - Select an OpenXR runtime. For the documented VDXR setup, the README directs users to set VDXR in Virtual Desktop’s Streaming settings.
- Launch the game through Northstar and start the single-player campaign.

The project is an alpha release for the single-player campaign, and its README explicitly warns not to use the mod on official servers. Listed issues include occasional lockups, frame spikes, head-locked cutscenes, and visual artifacts around fades and overlays. The project’s release notes and instructions are available in the TinyBlkDog repository.

If you report a problem, include the mod version, headset, OpenXR runtime, GPU, mission or context, reproduction steps if known, and the opening portion of the log. That detail helps distinguish a game or plugin issue from differences in hardware and runtime.
