Siege – Part 1 is Chapter 6 of DOOM: The Dark Ages. For a thorough clear, keep four separate goals in mind: Push Square lists 11 collectible items, while PowerPyx counts 11 secret areas, 513 Gold, and three mission challenges. Those are different guide totals, not one combined collectible count.
The battlefield lets you tackle objectives in a flexible order. A practical route is to collect the Secret Key near the center early, then sweep the western and northern areas before finishing the optional gates, challenges, and Ruby puzzle. The directions below use the chapter entrance as south, following PowerPyx’s suggested orientation.

Chapter 6 completion checklist
Use this checklist to decide what “complete” means for your run. Push Square’s collectible count and PowerPyx’s secret-area count refer to different things.

Get oriented and collect the Secret Key
After the opening area, you reach a large battlefield with several routes and objectives. Treat the entrance as the southern edge and sweep around the map clockwise if you want a consistent route; this is a navigation aid, not a required order.
- Start at the Sentinel Shrine. Use it as your southern landmark.
- Head north toward the battlefield’s center. The Secret Key is described as being near the center, just north of the starting Sentinel Shrine.
- Pick up the key before revisiting purple gates. It opens optional routes, including the secret room with the Slayer Toy and a western gate associated with the Impaler Nightmare weapon skin.
Taking the key early saves backtracking. If you pass a purple gate before finding it, mark the location and return after the central sweep.

Clear the western battlefield and solve the water route
Collect the western Ruby
On the battlefield’s west side, clear the enemies in the encounter area to reach a Ruby. Continue along the western route to find a climbable wall leading into a hidden area above a pool.
Reach Ruby #2 above the pool
- Climb the wall into the hidden area and enter the water passage.
- Swim through the passage and break the obstructing wall with the shield.
- Throw the shield above the gate to power it, then use the lever.
- Return through the water route to collect the Ruby above the pool.
PowerPyx also places the Impaler Nightmare weapon skin behind a purple gate in this broader western area. If the gate is still closed, come back with the Secret Key.

Defeat the Gore Portal leaders for Demonic Essence
The two Gore Portal encounters award different upgrades. The northwest portal’s armoured Mancubus grants Demonic Essence: Ammo. At the eastern portal, defeat the Leader—identified by PowerPyx as a Pinky Rider at the northeast portal—to earn Demonic Essence: Armor.

“Siege – Part 1”
Look in the battlefield’s back area for a tunnel marked by two blue flames. The route to the Codex involves lowering a chained section, then using a box and wall to climb toward an outside platform. PowerPyx also describes climbing a metal beam and rocks west of a Gore Portal. These landmarks describe approaches in the same general back-area route, but the guides do not establish that every landmark is identical.

The second Codex entry is on a lower platform near the Mancubus Toy and some Gold. From the large statue along the northern edge of the battlefield, check the platform below and to its left.

Mancubus Toy
Search at the feet of the large statue along the battlefield’s northern edge. The nearby lower platform holds the “Kreed Maykr” Codex entry and Gold.
Unlock Ruby #4 by striking three wolf statues
Ruby #4 is near the main battlefield entrance. To open access, find and hit three wolf statues with the shield. The guides place them on a rocky ledge, beneath a fallen tree, and in the nearby water or on a rock. The descriptions differ on the third statue’s exact landmark, so use the statue’s appearance and nearby terrain as your cue rather than relying on a single precise position.
- Search the rocky ledge for the first wolf statue and hit it with the shield.
- Find the statue beneath the fallen tree and strike it.
- Locate the nearby third statue in the water or on a rock and hit it.
- Return to the Ruby by the main entrance and collect it.
Complete the three mission challenges

Parry and Flail progress can be accumulated during normal combat, so you do not need to interrupt the route to pursue them separately. The cannon objective is distinct from collecting the chapter’s one listed weapon-skin collectible.

Finish the sweep without confusing the counts
- Return to any purple gates you marked after collecting the Secret Key.
- Check the west-side pool route, Gore Portal rewards, the northern statue, and the entrance-side wolf puzzle against your collectible list.
- Use the 11-item collectible breakdown if you are tracking Rubies, upgrades, entries, Toys, and the skin; use PowerPyx’s separate totals when tracking secret areas and Gold.
