For a new PC buyer who wants the full released story, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is the simplest option: it bundles the base game with the Phantom Liberty expansion. If you are unsure about the expansion or want to spend less up front, buy the base game first and decide later. Compare current regional prices before choosing; there is no universally best deal.
What kind of game is Cyberpunk 2077?
CD PROJEKT RED describes Cyberpunk 2077 as a single-player, open-world action-adventure RPG set in Night City. It is a role-playing story in a sprawling city, not a multiplayer service.
What does Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition include?
Ultimate Edition packages the base game and Phantom Liberty. In its December 5, 2023 announcement, CD PROJEKT RED also described the edition as including Update 2.0. The publisher separately said Update 2.1 was released free to PC and current-generation console owners; it is a base-game update, not a separately purchased story expansion. CD PROJEKT RED’s announcement sets out those package details.
Is Phantom Liberty included, and can you buy it separately?
Phantom Liberty is included with Ultimate Edition, but it is also offered as a separate expansion in some storefronts. It adds a spy-thriller story centered on Dogtown, involving a mission connected to the NUS President, as well as quests, skill-tree options, weapons, and cyberware. CD PROJEKT RED calls it “a new spy-thriller adventure for Cyberpunk 2077” on the official Phantom Liberty page.

The expansion requires the base game. If you already own Cyberpunk 2077, check whether your preferred store offers Phantom Liberty separately; if you do not own the game and want both stories, compare the bundle price with the separate total.

Where can you buy it, and what should you check?
GOG’s Ultimate Edition listing identifies the bundle and advertises DRM-free offline play and a fully offline installer. Those statements describe the GOG offer; they should not be assumed to apply to Steam or other retailers. The listing’s displayed currency, price, sale, and offer end time can vary by region and change over time.
CD PROJEKT RED announced on September 13, 2026, that Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty would come to Battle.net later that year, with the base game and expansion available separately or together as Ultimate Edition. That announcement describes a planned launch, not confirmation that sales have begun. Check the current store listing before buying.

Does the PC box include a disc?
No. The documented PC boxed edition is a code-in-a-box product, not a disc. CD PROJEKT RED’s boxed-edition instructions direct buyers to redeem the code through GOG GALAXY to download and install the game. GOG Support confirms that retail game codes redeem through a GOG account, not as Steam keys: see its platform redemption guidance. If you are considering a boxed copy, verify what edition and code the specific listing includes.
Will your PC run Cyberpunk 2077?
Check the current official Cyberpunk 2077 system-requirements page and compare its specifications with your exact CPU, graphics card, memory, and available storage. Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth buying on PC?
It is a reasonable buy if you want a single-player RPG set in Night City, and the right edition depends on how much of the story you want. For both the base game and Phantom Liberty, start by comparing Ultimate Edition with the separate purchase total at your preferred store. For the base story alone, or if you are undecided about Dogtown, the base game lets you postpone that choice. Confirm regional pricing, store terms, and your PC’s specifications before paying.
