Made a Rook who feels unmistakably yours in Dragon Age: The Veilguard? Share your character in the comments: tell us their background or faction, the idea behind your design, and the appearance details you’re proud of.
Meet the Rook you created
Rook is The Veilguard’s customizable hero, not a returning protagonist. The game lets players shape Rook’s background and origin, giving each character a different place in Thedas and a different starting point for the adventure.
James Whitbrook’s November 1, 2024, io9 feature offered two examples of how that can look: his Rook, Teyran Aldwir, is a Veil Jumper, while io9 weekend editor Justin Carter created Bren Laidir, a member of the Lords of Fortune. Their characters show how faction and character concept can help make a Rook feel like a distinct person, not just a set of appearance choices. Read Whitbrook’s feature.
What to include when you share
- Your Rook’s name and faction or background: for example, a Veil Jumper like Teyran or a Lord of Fortune like Bren.
- The character concept: what kind of person you imagined and how that shaped your choices.
- A visible detail: hair, facial modifications, or another appearance choice that makes your Rook recognizable.
- A screenshot, if you can: it gives other fans a chance to see the design you’re describing.
How your Rook’s look can change
Whitbrook’s feature highlights hair and facial modifications among the ways players can personalize Rook. It also describes Carter using the game’s re-customization feature at the Lighthouse to show Bren’s hair growing over the course of the adventure. That’s one example from the article, not a complete guide to the character creator or every available customization option.
