To finish The Palace of Time in Disney Dreamlight Valley, use the red- and blue-sand Hourglass states to cross the chasm and solve the palace door puzzle. When Jafar is blocked by a locked gate, follow the objective into Jafar’s Laboratory to get the key, then return to the throne room.
Before you start: unlock the quest
The Palace of Time is an Act III story quest on Eternity Isle. It requires the A Rift in Time expansion, which is separate from the base game, and begins after Mysterious Mickey. The entrance is a trapdoor in the Promenade area, beyond the rift cleared in the preceding quest. If a conversation hint calls the area the Lagoon, use the active quest marker to locate the entrance.
Cross the chasm and open the far door
- Enter the palace and interact with the Hourglass on the left. Switch to the state with red sand on top; a bridge appears across the chasm.
- Cross the bridge, turn right, and use the next Hourglass. Switch to the blue-sand state to open the far door.
- Go up the stairs and through the archway into the puzzle room.
Solve the power-and-mirror door puzzle
- Use the Hourglass on the right to switch to red sand.
- Go to the circular floor mechanism and rotate it until the power-coil holder aligns with the mirror. The walkthrough reports that this takes two interactions from its starting position; if your mechanism is already turned, follow the alignment cue rather than repeating that count.
- Check that the bright blue power line continues into the other part of the puzzle. Adjust the mirror until it completes the light path; the walkthrough reports two interactions from its starting position.
- Switch the Hourglass back to blue sand. The beam path activates and the door opens.
The important cue is the completed blue light path, not a fixed number of turns. Merlin’s optional hint puts the mechanic plainly: “It sounds like the palace is riddled with obstacles. You must use the Hourglasses within it to control time and create a path.”
Get the key and return to the throne-room gate
Continue toward the throne room. Jafar is behind a locked gate, and the quest redirects you to Jafar’s Laboratory for the key. Follow the laboratory objective, then return to the gate and unlock it. Dot Esports’ walkthrough says feeding Jafar’s bird is how to claim the key; the quest reference confirms the key objective but does not spell out every laboratory puzzle step.

Finish The Palace of Time
After you open the gate, Jafar sees you and creates a portal to the Black and White island. That portal marks the end of The Palace of Time; the story continues with The Now and Then.
