What players reported
Insider Gaming’s account described players who had already downloaded the Season 1 update but were still prompted that an update was available. Those users reportedly could not get past the game’s start screen. The report drew on player posts; it does not establish how widespread the issue was or show that every player with the symptom had the same cause. Read Insider Gaming’s report.

Which platforms were affected?
The report characterized the problem as platform-specific and identified Battle.net as a known affected platform. It did not establish that the same loop affected all platforms, nor does it provide a complete platform-by-platform account.
What is known about the response and status?
Insider Gaming said Activision, Treyarch, and Raven Software had not publicly commented on the issue at the time its article was written. That is a historical statement, not confirmation of their current position or of the bug’s present status.

Activision’s current known-issues list is the official place to check for problems the publisher is tracking. Its current list does not identify this particular Season 1 Battle.net update loop. That omission does not show whether the historical issue was fixed or resolved. The official Season 1 patch notes provide update context but do not document a specific fix for this launcher-level symptom.
What players can—and cannot—conclude
The available information supports treating this as a reported incident, not a confirmed game-wide outage. It does not establish how many players were affected, whether the developers later acknowledged or fixed this exact loop, or whether it continued after the initial reports. No verified workaround for this specific symptom is established by the cited reporting or official patch material.
