Ubisoft has a Splinter Cell remake in development at Ubisoft Toronto, but it has not confirmed a 2027 release date in the official sources reviewed. The announced project is a remake of the original game—not a confirmed new sequel—and Ubisoft has described an intent to retain the series’ early stealth identity while updating parts of the experience.
Is the Splinter Cell remake coming out in 2027?
There is no confirmed 2027 release date in Ubisoft’s announcement or Ubisoft Toronto’s project page. Ubisoft announced the remake on December 15, 2021, and the studio still lists it as a project, but neither official source gives a launch window or platform list. Ubisoft’s original announcement and Ubisoft Toronto’s project page establish development, not a date.

So the accurate way to describe the status is: a remake is in development, while 2027 remains unverified speculation. No source cited here establishes where that year originated.
What exactly has Ubisoft announced?
Ubisoft greenlit a remake of the original Splinter Cell, with Ubisoft Toronto leading development and the Snowdrop engine being used to rebuild the game. Ubisoft characterized it as a from-the-ground-up remake rather than a remaster. The announcement concerns the first game; it does not confirm a separate sequel or a broader slate of revived entries.

- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Ubisoft describes Splinter Cell as a stealth-shooter series that began in 2002, starring Sam Fisher. Ubisoft’s series page provides that franchise context.
What might the remake preserve or change?
When the project was announced, Ubisoft Toronto said it wanted to keep the spirit of the early games and preserve their linear structure, while refreshing visuals and some design elements for contemporary player expectations. Producer Matt West described that goal as keeping “the spirit of the early games” and the qualities that gave them their identity.

- SPIES VS. MERCS RETURNS: Spies vs. Mercs is back with a new take on asymmetrical gameplay. Players will be able to face off in teams of 4 while creating their very own Spy or Merc according to their playstyles via thorough customization elements. - COOP: Co-Op is back and bigger than ever with 14 maps & 4 mission types. While you play you also earn in-game currency and unlock additional weapons or gadgets via specialized missions assigned by Grim, Briggs, Charlie and Kobin.
Creative director Chris Auty emphasized a stealth loop built around observing a situation, making a plan, using gadgets and creatively outsmarting enemies. Those comments describe the team’s intentions at the announcement stage; they are not confirmation of the remake’s final features. Ubisoft has not provided a detailed feature list in the cited project materials.
Is Splinter Cell: Deathwatch the game’s comeback?
No. Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is a separate animated adaptation, not the remake. Netflix describes it as an adaptation of the game series and credits Ubisoft, Derek Kolstad, Sun Creature and Fost in its production description. The Netflix series and Ubisoft Toronto’s game remake are distinct projects. Netflix’s Deathwatch page covers the animated series.
