Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3: Galactic Battle featured five lightsaber variants: Rey’s blue, Emperor Palpatine’s red, Darth Vader Samurai’s red, Mace Windu’s purple and Darth Maul’s red. Players earned most by training with the matching hologram mentor, while Vader Samurai’s saber came from defeating the boss. These were routes from the 2025 season; the Star Wars Battle Pass progression window ran May 2 through June 7, 2025 Eastern Time, and the sources do not establish that the routes remain available in live play.

Epic’s May 1, 2025 Galactic Battle announcement described training with Rey or Palpatine and taking a saber from another player as ways to obtain one. It later announced Mace Windu and Darth Maul as additional mentor options. The abilities in the table are tied to learning from the corresponding mentor, not to owning that character’s saber.
How players obtained a lightsaber
Train with a hologram mentor
For Rey’s, Palpatine’s, Mace Windu’s or Darth Maul’s variant, the season’s route was to find and train with that character’s hologram. Mace Windu was announced for May 8, 2025; Darth Maul was described as arriving later in the season. The official season materials do not specify a date for Maul’s arrival.
Defeat Darth Vader Samurai
Vader Samurai’s red saber was obtained by defeating him at Vader Samurai’s Solitude. Beebom’s lightsaber guide describes a portal appearing after engaging with the relevant NPC or boss. That portal detail comes from Beebom’s guide, rather than the official announcement.

Pick up another player’s saber
Epic also said players could loot a lightsaber from another player. As Epic clarified, Force abilities belonged to the player who learned them, not to the weapon: picking up an opponent’s saber did not grant that opponent’s trained ability. Insider Gaming’s guide likewise lists looting another player’s saber as an option.
What a lightsaber did—and what it did not do
While brandishing a saber, players could deflect blaster bolts, sprint faster and double-jump with immunity to fall damage. Those weapon effects were distinct from the Force abilities earned through training. Beebom lists Force Jump alongside Rey’s saber, but Epic’s announcement associates Rey’s training reward with Force Push and describes jumping separately as a saber-enabled movement benefit; it does not establish Force Jump as an ability exclusive to Rey’s weapon.

The three red sabers had different sources and abilities: Palpatine’s came from training and was associated with Force Lightning, Vader Samurai’s came from defeating the boss and was associated with Force Saber Throw, and Maul’s came from training and was associated with Force Throw. Their shared color did not make them interchangeable.

Epic stated that Star Wars Battle Pass progression was available from May 2 through June 7, 2025 Eastern Time. That dated window does not establish whether the mentors, boss encounter or saber pickups remain available in Fortnite now; check the current mode and season before relying on these instructions.
