Then inspect every macro entry, simplify the sequence, and test delay or skill queuing only after the setup is correct. The menu paths and behavior below come from community guides and may differ by region or patch; confirm them in your current client.
Start with the symptom

If the macro does nothing
Bind the macro itself
A macro’s key binding is separate from putting skills on a hotbar. A community setup guide gives this path: Settings → Key Settings → General → Gameplay → Macro. It says the macro is unbound by default, so assign a key and test it rather than assuming a hotbar arrangement will run the sequence.
Try a keyboard key if a mouse button fails
The same guide reports that mouse-button macro keys may not work in AION 1 control mode. If you use that mode and the macro does not respond to a mouse button, try a keyboard binding. Control behavior and menu labels may vary by client region or patch.
If the macro stops after changing presets or an update
Check the active skill preset
According to current community guidance, macros are saved per skill preset, and switching presets stops a running sequence. Configure the macro separately on each preset you use, and start it again after switching.

Inspect it after a patch
Update notes dated July 15, 2026, reproduced by a community source, say skill macros became saveable per preset and that settings could rarely reset during the update; affected players were told to set them again. If a macro changed after a patch, review every entry and rebuild it if needed. This account is from reproduced community notes, not independently verified official English documentation.
If it triggers the wrong skill or repeats one
Review each macro entry
Community instructions describe creating a macro from the Skills window’s Macro control and adding hotkey or skill entries. A newly added step may initially be set to basic attack, so check what every step actually contains. Merely stacking skills on a quick slot does not guarantee that the macro will execute the intended sequence.

Treat the sequence as priorities, not a fixed script
A troubleshooting guide cautions that entries act as priorities rather than a guaranteed, one-pass sequence: a skill may be retried while the macro moves on. If the sequence seems stuck or keeps selecting an unexpected move, remove competing main damage skills or skills with the same cooldown from that hotkey or sequence. Test with one or two ordinary, repeatable skills before adding anything else.
Test consecutive instant-recharge skills as a possible cause
One player reported that multiple instant-recharge skills placed back to back were associated with a stuck sequence. That is a single report, not evidence that these skills always break macros. If your macro stalls in that arrangement, remove one of them temporarily and test again.

Keep timing-sensitive actions manual
Community guides recommend leaving charged, reactive, burst, movement, and other timing-sensitive skills on separate keys. An always-held sequence can use a buff as soon as it becomes ready, even when that is not the moment you want it. Use the macro for routine filler and trigger judgment-dependent actions yourself.
If skills are dropped, adjust delay cautiously
Do this only after checking the binding, preset, entries, and sequence. One community troubleshooting guide recommends starting at 10 ms and increasing the delay slightly if skills are dropped. Another reports differing player approaches: 10–20 ms with a good connection or 40–50 ms with high ping, while also reporting 10 ms throughout as an alternative. These are community recommendations, not an official universal setting.

- Reduce the macro to one or two repeatable skills and test it on a training target.
- Change one delay at a time, then repeat the same test so you can tell whether the change helped.
- If the sequence still drops inputs, return to the previous delay and continue checking other variables rather than assuming a longer delay will fix every failure.
Test skill queuing only when it matches the symptom
A community guide identifies the combat skill-queue setting as a possible variable when inputs are eaten or manual buffs lag, and suggests testing both states. Change only that setting for the test. The guide does not establish either state as best for every player, class, or connection.

NCSOFT’s January 28, 2026 update announcement discusses countermeasures against botting and unauthorized automation, a level-45 requirement for gathering activities, and a feature for canceling basic attacks with left or right mouse clicks. It does not document the in-game macro setup or establish that a particular external mouse, keyboard, or macro utility repairs it. For troubleshooting, use the built-in macro and check the current terms or official support information for your region before using third-party automation.

When to stop tuning and ask for help
If the macro still fails after these checks, note your client region and version, active skill preset, control mode, exact entries, delay, skill-queue state, and what happens when you test. These details distinguish a binding problem from a sequence or patch issue. A class-specific rotation cannot be recommended without knowing your class, build, active preset, and client region.
