Raven Rock is not currently an accessible Fallout 76 location. Bethesda announced on September 30, 2026, that a story coming in 2027 will expand the game’s map toward the Capital Wasteland and explore events almost 200 years before Fallout 3. Raven Rock is already significant in Fallout 3 lore as an Enclave facility there.
Where is Raven Rock in Fallout 76?
There is no Raven Rock location to travel to in Fallout 76 at present. Bethesda describes the game’s established setting as Appalachia, once known as West Virginia, while noting that Expeditions can take players beyond the region. Its September 2026 announcement describes Raven Rock as upcoming content, not a currently available destination. Bethesda has not published coordinates or a route for the announced story.
Bethesda’s announcement says the map will expand “towards the Capital Wasteland.” That describes the direction of the planned expansion; it does not establish an exact in-game map location or provide navigation instructions. Bethesda’s Fallout 76 overview describes the game’s setting and Expeditions.
What has Bethesda announced about Raven Rock?
In its September 30, 2026 directors’ letter, Bethesda Game Studios announced a story set almost 200 years before Fallout 3. Bethesda describes a “cold war” in the southeast between two derelict Enclave operators, and says the story precedes the Lone Wanderer’s journey. The introduction to the letter is credited to Creative Director Jon Rush and Production Director Bill LaCoste.

Bethesda says the content is coming in 2027, but the announcement gives no specific release date, price, purchase option, platform-specific expansion details, or instructions for accessing it. The announcement’s teaser also says “27 years ago” in describing a destruction, but does not identify that event more specifically; its meaning should not be assumed.
What is Raven Rock in Fallout lore?
In Fallout 3 lore, Raven Rock is a former U.S. military base and fallout shelter in the mountains of Pennsylvania. The fan-maintained Fallout Wiki entry on Raven Rock summarizes its earlier purpose as part of the U.S. continuity-of-government system and identifies it as the Enclave’s main base in the Capital Wasteland by 2277, when Fallout 3 takes place. It also summarizes the role of the ZAX computer at the facility.
The Wiki attributes details about Raven Rock’s purpose and the computer to game material, and reproduces an in-game statement by John Henry Eden. Because this is a secondary reference, treat it as a lore summary rather than a substitute for the original game dialogue.

The connection is both geographic and chronological. Fallout 76’s established home region is Appalachia; Bethesda says the announced story will extend the map toward the Capital Wasteland. In the timeline, Bethesda places the story almost 200 years before Fallout 3 and calls it the story that precedes the Lone Wanderer’s journey. That makes the announcement a prequel-era link to Fallout 3’s setting and events, not evidence that players can already visit the Fallout 3 version of Raven Rock in Fallout 76.
