Hogwarts Legacy has no native macOS release listed by its publisher or on Steam. Mac owners can play by streaming the PC game through GeForce NOW, trying the Windows version locally with CrossOver, or streaming it from a separate Windows gaming PC. Which route makes sense depends on whether you already own the PC game, your Mac, your internet connection, and how much setup you are willing to do.
Does Hogwarts Legacy run natively on Mac?
No official macOS version is listed. Warner Bros. Games names PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC as platforms in its official Hogwarts Legacy FAQ. Steam lists the PC release for Windows, not macOS. The game is described by the FAQ as an open-world role-playing adventure set in the 1800s wizarding world.
That leaves three workarounds: stream a supported PC edition from NVIDIA’s cloud, attempt to run the Windows game through CrossOver, or run it on a separate Windows PC and stream that PC to your Mac.
Which Mac option should you choose?

Choose GeForce NOW if you want to avoid installing the game locally
NVIDIA lists Hogwarts Legacy for Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox/PC Game Pass in its December 2025 GeForce NOW announcement. You still need access to a supported edition and must connect the relevant account to verify ownership. Check the live catalog, your region, and current membership rules before paying; availability can change.

Choose CrossOver if you want to try running the Windows game on your Mac
CodeWeavers’ Hogwarts Legacy compatibility listing labels the game “Runs Great” and reports testing on CrossOver 26.3.0. That rating is a useful starting point, not a promise that the game will work equally well on every Mac or configuration. The game remains a Windows release running through compatibility software, not a native Mac version.
Choose a Windows-PC stream if you already have a suitable gaming PC
With this option, the Windows computer runs the game and sends its display and input to the Mac. You must choose a remote-play tool yourself and confirm that it supports your particular Windows PC, Mac client, input devices, and network. The sources cited here do not verify a specific tool for this setup.

How to set up GeForce NOW on a Mac
- Check the game edition first. Review NVIDIA’s Hogwarts Legacy service announcement and the current GeForce NOW games catalog. Confirm that your store edition is supported in your region before subscribing.
- Check Mac compatibility. NVIDIA’s system requirements list macOS 10.15 or later and a Mac introduced in 2009 or later. Use the Mac app or a supported browser.
- Connect your game account. Sign in to the relevant store account so GeForce NOW can verify access to the game. NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW getting-started guide explains the account connection process.
- Check whether your connection suits your target quality. NVIDIA lists 15 Mbps for HD at up to 60 FPS, 25 Mbps for FHD at 60 FPS, and 35 Mbps for QHD or UW-QHD at 120 FPS. It recommends Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center. These are NVIDIA’s service requirements, not a guarantee of a particular experience on every connection.
- Pick your controls. Keyboard and mouse are options, and NVIDIA lists Microsoft Xbox controllers among gamepads supported on macOS. A controller is optional.
What does CrossOver require, and what can you expect?
Start with CodeWeavers’ compatibility entry and its CrossOver Mac installation guide. The compatibility page’s “Runs Great” label reflects CodeWeavers’ reported test on CrossOver 26.3.0; it does not establish a universal Mac hardware requirement, a frame rate, or reliable performance on every system. Check the listing and guidance for the CrossOver version you intend to use before buying or troubleshooting.

Steam’s stated minimum performance note is 720p at 30 FPS on low settings. These are requirements for the Windows release; they are not validated Mac specifications and do not predict how the game will perform through CrossOver.

You do not need one. Steam lists full controller support for the PC release, while NVIDIA lists Xbox controllers among its supported macOS gamepads. Use a controller if you prefer gamepad controls; keyboard and mouse remain an option when playing through GeForce NOW.
