You can make a real-world Halo 2 Battle Rifle as a nonfunctional cosplay or display prop—not as a working firearm. The practical route supported by available prop references is to use a printed replica or a 3D-printable kit, assemble it according to the kit maker’s instructions, then finish it to match the Halo 2 version you want.
What makes it look like the Halo 2 BR55?
The Halo 2 manual calls it the “BR55 Rifle.” Its description is fictional game lore, not a real-world firearm specification: “Battle Rifle fires 9.5mm rounds from 36-round magazine. Mounted with a 2X optical scope for targeting. Fires in short, automatic bursts of 3 rounds. Very accurate, relatively high rate of fire makes it a useful all-around infantry weapon.” See the Halo 2 Game Manual, Current UNSC Weaponry.
For a prop, translate that description into visual cues rather than construction specifications: a compact bullpup-like silhouette, a magazine shape, a top-mounted optic and details that suggest the weapon’s three-round-burst identity. Do not treat the fictional caliber or operating description as instructions for building or converting a real weapon.
Choose a scale and a game version
A community UNSC Weaponry Scale Chart lists the BR55 Battle Rifle at 89.9 cm long. Treat that as a starting reference, not an official manufacturing dimension. Compare it with the Halo 2 or Halo 2: Anniversary model or render you intend to recreate before finalizing a pattern: game art, camera perspective and version differences can affect the apparent shape and proportions.

Assemble a printed kit
A prop assembly tutorial describes joining printed sections and names CA glue or epoxy as possible supplies. The right adhesive depends on the actual kit material and design, so follow the kit maker’s compatibility and assembly instructions; the tutorial is not an independent materials test. For a search starting point, look for CA glue for 3D printed props, then confirm it suits your specific material and parts. See Cyberforge’s printed-prop assembly tutorial.
Buy a finished replica
A specialist 1313 Props listing described its BR55 as a 3D-printed PLA prop at “universe scale,” intended for cosplay. When accessed on October 4, 2026, the page displayed a $180 price and sold-out status. Those details are a dated listing snapshot, not a current offer or a survey of the market. Check the seller’s current stock, scale, finish, terms and intended use before making a purchase decision. See the 1313 Props BR55 listing.

Compare the details that matter before committing
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Scale and fidelity | Compare the replica with the chosen Halo 2 or Halo 2: Anniversary model; the community chart’s 89.9 cm is only a reference point. |
| Material and finish | Confirm the printed material and whether the prop arrives unfinished, painted or otherwise finished. |
| Assembly and painting | Find out whether sections need joining and how much surface preparation and painting the kit requires. |
| Cosmetic features | Check whether any moving or illuminated details are included; the available references do not establish a standard feature set. |
| Use and durability | Ask whether the maker intends the item for display, cosplay handling or another use, and follow its care guidance. |
| Availability and price | Check the current listing directly. The cited 1313 Props page was sold out when accessed on October 4, 2026, and its displayed price should not be read as current. |
The cited materials show a DIY assembly path and one specialist listing, not a complete comparison of replica sellers.

- For display: prioritize proportions, surface finish and a stable way to present the replica.
- For cosplay: check the replica’s weight, construction and suitability for the way you plan to carry it. Follow event rules and local requirements for prop weapons.
- For a custom finish: settle the game version and reference images before assembly and painting, so you do not commit to details that differ between versions.
Halo Waypoint describes the Battle Rifle’s place in the series and competitive play, but that franchise context does not change the prop-making boundary: the documented real-world approaches here are replicas intended for cosplay or display.
