In May 2025, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reported that Ubisoft was planning at least nine projects over six years, but the report omitted release dates and described several titles, connections and cancellations as uncertain. One entry has since become concrete: Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9, 2026, matching the remake Henderson had called “Obsidian.” The rest of the reported slate should still be treated as reporting, not an official schedule.
What the reported Assassin’s Creed roadmap included
Henderson’s May 2025 report described a six-year strategy that he understood to include two RPGs, three remakes, one smaller experience, two multiplayer games and one mobile title. He also described a rhythm of a traditional mainline RPG every two to three years, with remakes and smaller experiences between them. Those figures and that cadence were his reporting, not numbers Ubisoft announced. The report gave no release dates, noting that the delay to Shadows had changed the timing.
There is also a counting ambiguity in the report itself: its overview describes at least nine games across those categories, while its detailed list names nine entries and mentions a possible additional multiplayer game. It does not establish a definitive total or a reliable release order.
| Reported project | Format or description in the report | Evidence and timing |
|---|---|---|
| Jade | China-set game; the overview describes one planned title as mobile. | Outlet-reported. The platform and timing are not independently confirmed here; described as expected next in the report. |
| Invictus | Working title for a Fall Guys-inspired multiplayer game with 16-player matches. | Outlet-reported. The report placed it around the time of Obsidian, without a date. It said a roughly five-year support plan was pencilled in if the game met internal expectations. |
| Obsidian | Reported Black Flag remake, rebuilt in the new Anvil engine. | The remake concept was later matched by the official release of Black Flag Resynced; the report’s other details should not be assumed to have carried through unchanged. |
| Hexe | Still-working name, formerly Neo; described as a game planned after Shadows support. | Outlet-reported. Henderson projected one year of support for Hexe and roughly two years for Shadows; these were not an official current schedule. |
| Scarlet | Greenlit RPG in production, with no further detail available to Henderson. | Outlet-reported; no confirmed setting or release date. A proposed connection to Nebula and to India, the Mediterranean and the Aztec Empire was explicitly speculation. |
| Stardust | Second remake, reportedly expected to enter production after Obsidian’s release. | Outlet-reported; the remake’s subject was unclear. |
| Emerald | Another reported multiplayer project, possibly related to earlier codenames Raid or Echoes. | Unclear. Henderson said at least one of those efforts appeared cancelled, but did not establish which project or a confirmed relationship. |
| RPG3 | Placeholder for another RPG. | No codename, developer or theme had been assigned according to the report. |
| Remake3 | Placeholder for another remake. | No game had been assigned according to the report. |
What is officially confirmed: Black Flag Resynced
Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced would release July 9, 2026, and it is now a released game. Ubisoft describes it as a recreation of Black Flag with enhancements and new content, developed by Ubisoft Singapore. Its listed platforms include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with PC distribution also covered in the announcement. This official release corresponds to Henderson’s reported Obsidian remake, but it does not validate the rest of the proposed roadmap. Ubisoft’s announcement.

What the report does—and does not—say about timing
The report is useful as a snapshot of a possible strategy, not as a calendar to plan around. Its only broad timing idea was a traditional RPG every two to three years, with smaller projects and remakes between them. Its project order and support windows were approximate or conditional, and the report specifically withheld dates after the Shadows delay altered timing.
- Released: Black Flag Resynced, dated July 9, 2026 by Ubisoft.
- Approximate sequence in the 2025 report: Jade was described as expected next; Invictus and Obsidian were placed around the same time; Hexe was described as following Shadows support; Stardust was reportedly to enter production after Obsidian’s release.
- No firm timing or identity: Scarlet’s setting, Emerald’s relationship to earlier projects, RPG3 and Remake3 remained unresolved in the account.
How Ubisoft’s earlier project labels fit in
In a September 10, 2022 Ubisoft article, executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté said: “RED and HEXE are single-player games. They don’t have any multiplayer components.” The statement is useful historical context for how Ubisoft described those tracks at the time; it does not establish their present status or confirm Henderson’s later slate. Ubisoft’s 2022 article also discussed standalone multiplayer under the name INVICTUS. Read Ubisoft’s 2022 overview.

What to take away
The clearest current point is that one reported remake has materialized as an official, released game: Black Flag Resynced. The broader claim of at least nine games, the proposed categories and cadence, and the individual descriptions of Jade, Invictus, Hexe, Scarlet, Stardust, Emerald, RPG3 and Remake3 remain attributed to the May 2025 Insider Gaming report. Until Ubisoft confirms more of them, they are best read as reported plans rather than promised releases.
