Nintendo Music is included with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership at no extra charge. You need a Nintendo Account, but you do not need a Nintendo Switch console: listen using the app on a compatible phone or tablet, or the web player on a computer. Availability depends on your country or region.

What’s included with Nintendo Music?

Nintendo Music is a growing library of music from Nintendo games. You can find individual tracks, browse by game series or character, listen to soundtracks and curated playlists, and make playlists of your own. Nintendo says its playlists can be organized around game titles, characters, and themes such as battle music.

The catalog includes music from newer and older games. Examples currently shown in the Google Play listing include Mario Kart World, Pikmin 4, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. These are examples, not a complete catalog; Nintendo does not state a total track count.

  • Offline listening: Download music in the mobile app for listening without an internet connection.
  • Background playback: Keep music playing while using other apps on a mobile device.
  • Spoiler controls: Hide music from selected games so you can avoid tracks you do not want to hear.
  • Extended playback: Some tracks can be extended to 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • Personalized features: Nintendo describes recommendations based on play history and notifications when soundtracks are added.

Feature availability differs by platform. My Mix is not available in the browser, and some app functions, including the sleep timer, are not available there.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online, and is there an extra fee?

Yes. An active Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account are required. Nintendo Music is a membership benefit, not a separately sold music subscription, so it does not add a separate charge to the membership. Nintendo Switch Online itself is sold separately; its plans, prices, and terms vary by country. Check Nintendo’s local membership page for current details.

Nintendo’s Canadian information says eligible members of a Nintendo Switch Online family membership can use Nintendo Music, with the family plan covering up to seven other members. Confirm local plan terms before choosing a membership. Nintendo also says an eligible free trial can be used to try Nintendo Music in Canada; trial availability and renewal terms depend on region and account eligibility, so check the offer shown for your account.

Nintendo also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in Canada, including playlist controls by voice. Follow local road-safety rules and do not operate a touchscreen while driving.
