Best $800 Gaming PC Build in 2026: A Dated Parts List and Buying Advice

A $778 parts list from October 2025 is a useful starting point, not a current quote. Learn what an $800 gaming PC can target in 2026 and how to reprice it.

An $800 gaming PC in 2026 is best treated as a tight, 1080p-focused budget—not a price you can assume will buy a current, verified parts list. The clearest under-$800 reference is a $778 build published by GamersNexus in October 2025. By September 2026, Tom’s Hardware had moved its least expensive recommended build tier to about $900 as memory, storage, and graphics-card prices rose. Use the list below as a starting point, then check live prices and the complete cart before buying.

What an $800 gaming PC can realistically target

At this budget, plan for gaming at 1080p and be prepared to adjust graphics settings or use FSR or DLSS upscaling where available. TechRadar describes about $800 (or £700 / AU$1,200 in its cited regional guidance) as the minimum spend for a competent 1080p gaming PC, while cautioning that upscaling may be needed to keep performance consistent around 60 FPS. That is broad buying guidance, not a guarantee for every game, resolution, or preset. TechRadar’s gaming PC budget guidance

A $778 reference build from October 2025

GamersNexus listed the following parts at a total of $778 in October 2025. That is a historical price, not an October 2026 quote; the guide notes that component prices and availability can change daily. Treat the case, cooler, power supply, and fans as part of that dated reference rather than as confirmed current deals. GamersNexus’ build and CPU guide

Component October 2025 reference pick
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
Graphics card Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition or ASRock Intel Arc B580 Challenger OC
Memory Crucial Pro 32GB (2 × 16GB) DDR5-5600
Motherboard ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2
Case Cooler Master Q300L V2
CPU cooler Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 V2
Power supply Thermaltake Smart W3 600W
Storage WD Blue SN5000 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD
Fans Thermalright TL-C12C X3 120mm
Total $778 in GamersNexus’ October 2025 list; not a current quote

The total should not be read as including costs the source does not establish. Price tax and shipping for your location, and account separately for an operating system, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals if you need them.

Is the Arc B580 the right graphics card?

The Arc B580 is a plausible card for this kind of build, but it is not a universal choice. GamersNexus characterizes it as suited to 1080p gaming and lighter esports titles at 1440p; its 12GB of VRAM can also accommodate higher-resolution textures. The same guide warns that Intel’s GPU experience can require more patience than Nvidia or AMD. GamersNexus’ Arc B580 review

PC Gamer’s October 1, 2026 price watch listed the B580 at $329.99. That dated reported price is not a guaranteed live listing or a promise that the card fits an $800 cart alongside the other parts. PC Gamer also notes that performance varies by game and that some titles do not work as well with Intel GPU architecture. Check the current price and the games you play before choosing it. Why $800 is harder to hit in 2026

Tom’s Hardware updated its build guide on September 30, 2026, citing higher RAM, storage, and graphics-card prices and placing its least expensive recommended tier at about $900. It also notes that bundle discounts can change memory costs and may sell out. This makes $800 a constraint to work within, not a reliably available price point for a fully stocked current build. Tom’s Hardware’s PC build guide

  • Reprice memory and storage as well as the graphics card; changes in any of these categories can move the total.
  • Compare the GPU’s performance per dollar using benchmarks for the games and settings you care about, rather than assuming one card wins in every title.
  • Consider the CPU platform’s upgrade potential alongside today’s price. GamersNexus identifies the older AM5 reference build as offering an upgrade path, but that does not guarantee a particular future upgrade’s cost or performance.
  • Decide how much compatibility or driver troubleshooting you are willing to tolerate before settling on a GPU.

How to use the parts list without exceeding your budget

  1. Price the full cart first. Check current availability and add every component, including memory, storage, cooling, and case fans. Do not assume the historical $778 total still holds.
  2. Set your real spending limit. Decide whether $800 includes tax and shipping, and budget separately for an operating system and peripherals if required.
  3. Check the games you play. Look for relevant, game-specific performance information and verify that the GPU behaves acceptably in your titles, especially if considering the Arc B580.
  4. Rebalance before buying. If today’s total is over budget, compare current alternatives by GPU value, memory and storage cost, and platform upgrade potential. Recheck the total after each change rather than relying on a stale parts list.

What the reference build’s performance evidence does—and does not—show

GamersNexus explicitly says it did not directly performance test the complete build. Writer Jeremy Clayton wrote, “We did not directly performance test this build, but we can still show the relative scaling between CPUs.” The CPU charts in that article are from a separate test bench and show relative CPU comparisons; they are not FPS results for this full parts list. No directly comparable full-build FPS figures for an October 2026 $800 cart are established here. GamersNexus’ test notes and CPU charts
