Path of Exile 2 supports cross-play and cross-progression across supported platforms: players can play together across platform families, and characters can continue on another supported platform. But character progress and purchases are different: Grinding Gear Games (GGG) says PlayStation purchases do not transfer to or from other platforms, while Xbox and PC microtransaction sharing depends on account and sub-account setup.
What cross-platform support means in Path of Exile 2
Cross-play lets players on different supported platforms play together. Cross-progression lets you continue a character’s progress on another supported platform. GGG’s account FAQ says, “Path of Exile 2 characters can be played across any platform.” In its May 30, 2024 announcement, PlayStation Blog said the game would introduce “full cross-play and cross-progression.” GGG’s account-system FAQ and PlayStation Blog’s announcement establish the features; Jonathan Rogers, Game Director at Grinding Gear Games, also discussed cross-play and console cross-progression in an Xbox Wire interview.
Which platforms are included?
GGG’s August 2025 Third Edict FAQ lists standalone PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5 among the platforms supported for that update. These are the platform families named in that FAQ, not a guarantee that every storefront or regional listing is available everywhere. Check the current listing for your region before buying. How to find a character after linking accounts
Cross-progression depends on using the relevant linked account. GGG explains that linked accounts may contain separate sub-accounts, each with its own character list. Linking does not automatically merge every character into one list, and characters cannot be transferred between sub-accounts.

- Link the relevant platform accounts using GGG’s account system.
- At the character-selection screen, check the sub-account selector and choose the account containing your character.
- If the character still does not appear, verify that you linked the intended accounts. For an account linked incorrectly, GGG advises contacting support about unmerging.

Do not treat character cross-progression as a promise that every purchase follows the character. GGG’s November 12, 2024 account FAQ says PlayStation purchases cannot be used on other platforms, and purchases made elsewhere cannot be used on PlayStation. Affected microtransactions may show as unavailable on the other platform.

For Xbox and PC, GGG says microtransactions can be available across platforms after linking, but purchases remain on separate sub-accounts by default. The post describes a one-time move through support, subject to restrictions. It does not mean every item automatically appears on every sub-account. Check the FAQ and ask GGG support about your configuration before relying on a purchase being shared. GGG’s account-system FAQ

What to check before switching platforms
- Playing together: Cross-play is supported across supported platforms.
- Continuing a character: Cross-progression is supported; make sure the platform accounts are linked and select the sub-account that holds the character.
- Accessing purchases: PlayStation purchases are platform-restricted under the policy GGG stated in November 2024. Xbox and PC sharing has account and sub-account conditions.
- Availability: Confirm that the game is listed for your platform and region before purchasing; the August 2025 FAQ names supported platform families but does not establish every regional store listing.
