In October 2025, PC Gamer relayed Business Insider reporting that EA leaders had urged nearly 15,000 employees to use AI widely. Some anonymous workers reportedly objected to errors and extra correction work, and one former employee suspected AI was connected to a layoff. That account is not evidence that all EA developers oppose AI or that AI caused layoffs.
What is EA asking employees to do?
PC Gamer reported on October 27, 2025, citing Business Insider, that EA’s senior leadership had spent the preceding year encouraging nearly 15,000 employees to use AI “for just about everything.” The account described training, an internal chatbot called ReefGPT, and task automation. The figure refers to the workforce scale mentioned in that reporting; it is not a count of employees who adopted AI or completed training. PC Gamer’s account of the Business Insider reporting does not establish a written, universal mandate.
EA’s public statements describe AI as support for creative teams and workflow changes. GamesRadar reported that an EA employee FAQ promised a “thoughtful, steady approach to AI” and characterized it as a tool to empower employees. Those are the company’s stated aims, not independent findings about how AI affects employees’ work. GamesRadar’s report on EA’s FAQ and AI plans
What kinds of AI is EA using?
EA’s examples span different technologies, and conventional machine learning should not be confused with generative AI. The company has described machine learning for game-production tasks as well as generative tools intended to help artists and developers.

Generative tools for art and prototyping
In an October 23, 2025 announcement, EA said it would work with Stability AI to co-develop models, tools, and workflows for artists, designers, and developers. EA described early work on artist-directed physically based rendering material workflows, including generated 2D textures, and exploration of systems that could pre-visualize 3D environments from prompts. These were announced areas of work; the announcement did not give adoption rates, delivery dates, or independent evaluations. EA’s Stability AI partnership announcement
Machine learning in game production
EA’s March 2025 GDC article described machine learning in pathfinding and tools used to create athletes. EA said its Stadium Creation Toolkit helped developers create more than 150 unique stadiums for its football ecosystem, and that machine-learning tools helped artists create thousands of unique athletes. These are company-published figures, not independently audited measurements. EA’s account of its GDC 2025 work

Why are some developers reportedly unhappy?
The complaints in the October 2025 account concern the gap between AI’s intended efficiency and the work involved when its output is wrong. PC Gamer, relaying Business Insider’s reporting and anonymous sources, said ReefGPT could produce hallucinations and faulty code that required correction. The report did not provide independently benchmarked performance data, so it should be read as worker-reported experience rather than a measured assessment of the tool.
The same account said a former senior Respawn QA worker, speaking anonymously, described AI handling a key part of reviewing and summarizing playtester feedback. He reportedly suspected that AI integration was related to his April layoff. That is an individual’s suspicion, not proof that AI caused his job loss or any broader set of layoffs.

Later, in a June 23, 2026 interview, EA President of Enterprise Development Laura Miele described AI as removing friction and tedium and enabling faster prototyping. PC Gamer noted that the specific systems she meant were not clear. Her comments reflect an executive assessment, not a quantified productivity study. The same report said employees were reportedly less upbeat about EA’s AI future and mentioned layoffs across studios, but did not establish that AI caused those layoffs. PC Gamer’s June 2026 report

| Question | What the available reporting says | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Is EA encouraging employees to use AI? | PC Gamer’s 2025 account of Business Insider reporting says leaders urged broad use across a workforce described as nearly 15,000 people. | A formal universal policy or how many employees actually use AI. |
| Are developers unhappy? | Anonymous workers in that reporting raised concerns about flawed output and extra correction work; later reporting described employees as less upbeat. | That all EA developers—or even most—oppose AI. The accounts do not measure employee sentiment across the company. |
| Is AI replacing developers? | One former worker reportedly suspected a link between AI integration and his layoff. | That AI caused his layoff or layoffs across EA. The cited reports do not demonstrate a causal connection. |
| Is EA seeing production benefits? | EA has cited examples including stadium and athlete creation, while Miele described reduced tedium and faster prototyping. | Independent proof of productivity gains or the scale of AI adoption. |
EA’s 2025 Impact Report search-result excerpt says more than 6,000 employees visited the EA Learn hub during FY25. A visit is not evidence that 6,000 employees completed AI training or became proficient; the figure alone does not show how broadly AI was adopted. EA’s 2025 Impact Report
