In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, “The King’s Gambit” has two halves: Henry infiltrates a council meeting as a royal waiter, then Father Godwin gathers support in Raborsch before Henry returns to serve Sigismund. To get through it, secure Franta Kuldaun’s waiter certificate and clothes, serve the requested wines correctly, complete Godwin’s three support tasks, and follow Sigismund’s final wine requests.
Get the royal waiter certificate and clothes
- Go to Kuttenberg City Hall during the day. Tell the guard, “I have an appointment,” then speak with Ulrich Vavak of Neuhaus.
- Find Franta Kuldaun using the objective marker. His location changes with the time of day, so if he is not there, wait in one-hour increments and check again.
- Ask Franta for the certificate and royal waiter clothes. The guide-supported dialogue option is “I have important news for the King!”—a medium speech check, not a guaranteed success for every character build. If you fail, Franta may demand 1,000 Groschen. The guide also describes stealing the outfit or knocking him out at night as alternatives.
- Equip the complete royal waiter outfit and remove other visible gear as directed, then report to the scribe Majordomo to enter the council meeting.
Serve the councillors
Stay in the service area and respond when someone calls for wine. Identify the person requesting service, pour the requested wine, and return the pitcher.

Walkthroughs differ on how long the council meeting lasts: PowerPyx describes about 20 minutes and warns repeated missed or incorrect service can lead to a game over after roughly eight minutes, while Gamer Guides estimates 10–15 minutes. Treat those as guide estimates, not an exact timer. Pay attention to requests and avoid repeated service mistakes.
Switch to Father Godwin and gather noble support
After Sigismund arrives, control switches to Father Godwin in Raborsch. Speak with Vauquelin Brabant, the rabbi and his escort Samuel, then John of Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein sends Godwin to secure support from Haman Alder, Botschek of Kunstadt, and Anna of Waldstein.

Win Haman Alder’s support
Christopher intervenes and demands a duel. The duel happens regardless of the dialogue choice; parries and counters or Master Strikes are suggested approaches. Win the duel to secure Alder’s support.
Arrange Botschek’s support
Ask Botschek what would persuade him. His concern is having support if events go badly. Speak with Hanush in the courtyard to arrange a marriage involving Hans and Botschek’s niece, then return to Botschek with the news.
Complete Anna of Waldstein’s document task
Find Anna on the top floor near a window. Her task is to switch documents in Alder’s saddlebags by the stables. A stablemaster may stop you; pass a dialogue check or otherwise get past him, swap the documents, and report back to Anna. If the objective marker is missing, use the stables and Alder’s saddlebags as the location clue.
When all three support tasks are complete, report to Liechtenstein. A cutscene resolves the political maneuvering and control returns to Henry.

Serve Sigismund and finish the quest
Henry is alone with Sigismund and Markvart von Aulitz. Keep listening to Sigismund’s requests and match the wine correctly: Monastic is red and Tokaji is white. Follow Sigismund’s request even if Markvart tells you to pour something different. For the toast, PowerPyx gives the response “To victory!” while Gamer Guides lists “For Victory.” The scene ends the quest and leads into “The Feast.”
Patch 1.4 fixes relevant to this quest
Deep Silver’s Patch 1.4 notes list fixes for Franta Kuldaun’s crime-dialogue options, Anna of Waldstein’s missing objective marker, and NPC reactions during the Kuttenberg council if the player has committed a crime. These notes establish that the issues were addressed in Patch 1.4; they do not confirm behavior on every later build or platform.
