DMZ Deep Dive, Part 1: Hajin Environments and Threats — Full Intel Guide

Hajin’s DMZ deployment is a risk-and-extraction loop: loot, pursue objectives, fight AI forces or rival Operators, and reach an exfil point to secure rewards. Use the Tac-Map to plan a route, watch the location Threat indicator as combat escalates, and leave before radiation intensifies if the squad cannot safely finish its objective. This field guide follows the official Call of Duty guide published October 5, 2026; its locations and mechanics are game information, not verified real-world geography.

How a DMZ deployment works

A run in Hajin links the risks you take now to the resources and progression you carry forward. Loot can support combat, missions, and later deployments, but extraction is what secures rewards. Combat can draw stronger or more numerous enemies, while rival Operators create a separate PvP danger that the location Threat indicator does not measure.

Before deployment, the Forward Operating Base (FOB) is the between-run planning center for Operators, stash, loadout, DMZ Orders, and progression. Call of Duty describes an expanded FOB as having “over a dozen different Stations.” The publisher gives DMZ Player Level as a range from Level 1 to Level 70. These are in-game progression details from the official Hajin guide, not measures of real-world locations or facilities.

Read the Tac-Map and HUD together

The Tac-Map is for route planning and reconnaissance, not just finding the next objective. It shows objectives, points of interest (POIs), threat areas, compounds, important buildings, caches, radiation, your position, nearby enemies, and pings. Zoom in to inspect terrain and hazards, mark a route, and use grid references to coordinate with squadmates; the official guide gives D7 as an example coordinate for Imjin Farmland.

The HUD supplies the immediate context the map cannot: time until radiation intensifies, objectives, compass, location Threat, hostile kill count, squad status, cash, equipment, and weapon details. Check both layers before crossing into a new POI or continuing a fight. The countdown matters because radiation can turn a promising detour into a race to an exfil point.

Understand what the Threat indicator does—and does not—tell you

Each POI has a Threat level shown under the compass when you enter it. According to Call of Duty’s guide, combat disruption increases the expected danger and number of enemies, and higher Threat can bring reinforcements. “Low” is the least problematic level in a location that has enemies; “Extreme” is the highest.

This is an AI-response signal, not a complete safety rating: human Operators are excluded. A low indicator does not rule out an ambush by another squad. Treat rising Threat and hostile kill count as reasons to reassess whether the objective still justifies staying, while accounting separately for the possibility of PvP contact.

When to keep pushing

  • Continue if the objective or likely reward is worth the expected escalation and your squad has the time, ammunition, equipment, and route to leave.
  • Use cover and the terrain to limit exposure. The guide recommends stealth eliminations with melee, throwing knives, or suppressed shots where appropriate.
  • Keep the next exit route in view rather than assuming the area will remain manageable.

When to break contact

  • Disengage if reinforcements or rising enemy pressure threaten to overwhelm the squad before the objective is complete.
  • The official guide recommends moving toward rural areas and getting out of enemies’ visual or audible detection. These are publisher-recommended tactics, not independently tested guarantees.
  • Recheck the radiation timer and map before choosing a new route; leaving one fight is useful only if the squad can still reach an exfil point.

Know the forces listed for Hajin

The official tour lists enemy types from ordinary patrols to bosses and rival players. The roster below reflects the guide’s in-game categories; it does not imply that every force appears at every POI or on every deployment.

  • North Korean soldiers: Tier 1 North Korean Grunts; Tier 2 Armored North Korean Soldiers; Tier 3 Armored, Gas Masked North Korean Soldiers; and Tier 4 Faceless Armored North Korean Soldiers.
  • Autonomous units: an autonomous combat drone swarm, an LMG combat drone, and autonomous K9 quadrupeds.
  • Mobile forces: attack infantry helicopter patrols and road convoys.
  • Named high-value enemies: Lieutenants; Commander: Colossus; Commander: Deathstalker; and Commander: Main NK Battle Tank.
  • Other threats: enemy players and one category the guide labels “[CLASSIFIED].” The classified entry is not identified in the published guide.

Tour Hajin by playable environment

Call of Duty’s tour names 13 major POIs. Think of them by the kinds of routes and exposure they create: fortified sites, dense built-up areas, rural ground, industrial infrastructure, transport corridors, and riverside or coastal approaches. The guide also uses prior territory labels, NK or SK, and gives location-specific Threat information. Those are current game details from the official tour; they should not be read as a real-world map of the Korean peninsula.

Fortified and military locations

  • 14th Political Prison and Chang-san Air Base are named fortified or military sites. Treat entry as a deliberate commitment: check the displayed Threat and planned exit before engaging.

Urban, commercial, and civic areas

  • Deadtown, Cheongun Village, Mirae General Hospital, NuriGO Mall, The Grid, and Wolves Stadium make up the tour’s built-up and commercial landmarks. Buildings and compounds can shape sightlines and movement; inspect the map rather than assuming a direct line between objectives is safe.

Rural ground and high terrain

  • Imjin Farmland and Cheonwang Peak Array represent more open or elevated environments in the tour. The map’s terrain view and grid coordinates help squadmates discuss approach and position.

Energy infrastructure, transport, and waterways

  • Haneul Nuclear Reactor is an energy-infrastructure landmark. The tour also names Songdo Wharf and Hajin River Heights, which frame waterfront and riverside approaches.
  • Transport routes include roads, rail, water, and air. Consider how a vehicle’s finite fuel and armor, and the time remaining before radiation intensifies, affect whether a longer route is viable.

Choose objectives with their risk profile in mind

The guide distinguishes DMZ Orders, story missions, Dynamic Ops, and Side Ops. The first three can give a squad a more involved objective; Side Ops are presented as lower-intensity opportunities to explore, earn DMZ XP, gather resources or intel, find lost Supply Drops, repair trucks, or climb radio towers to reveal a Lieutenant’s general location.

Not every operation is a low-risk task. A Hunt Operators operation can lead to a full squad of rival Operators, so the AI Threat display cannot be used to judge its complete danger. Before committing, weigh the objective type against current location Threat, likely AI exposure, PvP risk, terrain, radiation timing, and the squad’s ability to disengage.

Use vehicles without treating them as safe cover

Vehicles speed up travel, but their armor and fuel are finite. The guide lists ground vehicles, an automated train, an automated tram, RHIB watercraft, helicopters, and the Monarch infil/exfil aircraft. Gas Stations provide repair and refueling. A damaged or low-fuel vehicle can become a liability if the route depends on it, so check its condition and nearby service options before relying on it for an escape.

The guide explicitly contrasts DMZ with Warzone: in its account, Warzone vehicles do not require repair and refueling. Do not carry that assumption into DMZ.

A practical pre-deployment and in-run checklist

  1. At the FOB: review your Operator, stash, loadout, DMZ Orders, and progression before deploying.
  2. On the Tac-Map: identify the objective, POIs, compounds, caches, threat areas, terrain, and a plausible route to exfil.
  3. At each POI: read the Threat indicator under the compass and check the HUD for hostile activity, squad condition, and radiation timing.
  4. After combat escalates: decide whether the objective still warrants the additional enemy response; stay under cover or break contact before the squad is pinned down.
  5. Before taking a vehicle route: account for fuel, armor, and access to a Gas Station for repair or refueling.
  6. Before a detour or fight: ensure there is enough time to reach an exfil point before radiation intensifies.
