That is a meaningful advantage in some competitive games—not a promise of better play or a substitute for a full controller. The phone backs the controls with a fast 144Hz display and capable mid-range hardware, but game-by-game frame-rate limits, cameras and software support are part of the buying decision too.
What the “bonus finger” actually does
The GT 30 Pro has two capacitive touch areas along its side frame, branded GT Triggers. Hold the phone in landscape orientation and rest your index fingers on them; the phone can translate those touches into additional in-game inputs. Unlike mechanical shoulder buttons, they are touch-sensitive rather than click switches.
Infinix says the system can support four- and six-finger gaming setups. That describes possible finger arrangements, not six physical buttons: the hardware adds two trigger areas, and the rest of the inputs still come from the touchscreen. The available actions depend on the game and its control layout. Infinix’s launch announcement describes the trigger system and its intended gaming use.
A practical control layout
In a shooter, for example, keep your left thumb on movement and your right thumb on looking around, then map one trigger to aim and the other to fire. In a battle royale game, a trigger might instead handle firing while another activates a jump or crouch. In a racing game, the extra inputs can make acceleration and braking easier to use alongside steering. The best layout depends on which actions you need at the same time and where the game lets you place its controls.

Mapping and shortcuts
Set up the trigger mappings through the phone’s gaming-assistance interface, then test them in the game’s practice or training mode. The exact menu labels and options may differ with regional firmware and software updates, so there is no single verified path that applies to every GT 30 Pro. The user manual describes software-dependent trigger gestures and shortcuts—including single-press, long-press and double-press functions, with examples such as taking a picture, taking burst shots or playing and pausing video. These options are not necessarily available in every app or firmware version. The GT 30 Pro manual gives examples of the functions.
When the triggers help—and when they do not
The advantage is ergonomic: extra simultaneous inputs can reduce finger travel and keep a thumb from leaving movement or camera controls to reach another action. That can be useful in landscape shooters, battle royale games, MOBAs and racers where several controls matter at once. It will not improve aim or decision-making by itself, and it is not universally better than a controller.
- Most useful: games with several simultaneous actions and a customizable touchscreen layout.
- Less useful: portrait, turn-based or casual games, or titles that offer few controls to map.
- Potential limitation: an individual game, overlay or anti-cheat system may prevent remapping or make it behave inconsistently.
Infinix associated the phone with PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports activity in its launch material. That is evidence of marketing and tournament positioning, not proof that the triggers work identically in every title or that the phone is the best competitive device for every game. The launch announcement sets out that positioning.
If a trigger mapping stops working
- Update the game and the phone, then check whether the game’s own control layout has changed.
- Open the gaming-assistance interface and confirm that the game is added and its trigger overlay is enabled.
- Re-map the controls after finalizing the game’s touchscreen layout, then test in a practice area before playing competitively.
- Remove any case that may cover or interfere with the trigger areas.
- If the problem occurs in just one game, consider compatibility or an anti-cheat restriction before assuming the trigger hardware is faulty.
How fast is it in actual games?
The GT 30 Pro pairs a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage in the cited India specification. Its large 6.78-inch AMOLED display has a 1224 × 2720 resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Those specifications make it a capable gaming phone, but they do not guarantee that a game will render at 120 or 144 frames per second.

A game needs to support the frame-rate mode, and it may need to recognize or whitelist the device before offering it. Graphics settings, firmware, ambient temperature and sustained workload also affect results. Independent reviews find the chipset strong for the class and report smooth play in popular games, but they do not establish universal high-frame-rate support. Notebookcheck’s review notes both spotty high-frame-rate support and GPU throttling under sustained loads; Android Central’s review describes the phone as a capable gaming device.
In practice, check the game’s own graphics and frame-rate menu before buying on the strength of a “120fps” claim. If the top frame-rate option is missing, the display’s 144Hz maximum cannot unlock it. If performance becomes inconsistent during a long session, reducing graphics quality may be more useful than chasing the highest frame-rate setting.
Heat, battery and long sessions
The cited India model has a 5,500mAh battery, up to 45W wired charging and up to 30W wireless charging. Charging support and included equipment may vary by region. Battery capacity is not a runtime guarantee: high brightness, a 144Hz setting, mobile data, demanding games and hot surroundings all affect endurance.
Android Central reported that its review unit lasted a day and took slightly more than an hour to charge using 45W charging. Those are observations from that review, not a promise for every user or charging setup. The review describes its test experience.

The phone uses a vapor-chamber cooling design. Reviewers’ findings on sustained heat are not identical: Android Central found reasonable heat management during its use, while Notebookcheck reported GPU throttling under sustained load. Treat normal warmth, reduced performance and heat while charging as related but distinct issues. Infinix’s “All-Day Full FPS” language is a product claim, not a universal guarantee that the phone will hold a particular frame rate all day.
Bypass charging and the optional cooler
FoneArena describes a bypass-charging mode that can power the phone during gaming without routing power through the battery in the usual way. Its availability may depend on the gaming mode, app and firmware, and it should not be treated as a guarantee of longer battery life. FoneArena’s review explains its experience with the feature.
For long, demanding sessions, use Wi-Fi where practical, avoid direct sunlight and lower graphics settings if the phone struggles to sustain performance. If your firmware offers bypass charging for the game, it may help limit charging-related heat. Infinix also sells an optional active MagCharge Cooler; it adds cost and bulk and may require the compatible case or mounting arrangement. What it is like as an everyday phone
Display and design
The AMOLED panel’s size, resolution and refresh rate suit games and video as well as everyday scrolling. Its 144Hz figure is a display maximum, not a promise that every app or game will use that rate. A high refresh-rate setting can also use more battery. At 188g and 7.99mm thick on the cited India model, the phone is less bulky than many dedicated gaming devices, though its gaming-oriented design will not suit everyone.

The India model is listed with IP64 protection. That means dust resistance and protection against water splashes under test conditions—not waterproofing or protection against submersion, swimming or showering. The rear camera island can make the phone wobble on a flat surface; a model-specific case may reduce the movement, but it should not cover the trigger surfaces. Infinix’s India listing provides the regional dimensions and protection rating.
Cameras
The cited configuration has a 108MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 13MP front camera. The main camera can produce good daylight results, but the megapixel count does not make this a camera-first phone. Reviews characterize the ultrawide as average and identify weaknesses in low-light motion and video stabilization. Android Central, FoneArena and The Indian Express discuss the camera trade-offs.
Software and support
At launch, the phone ran XOS 15 on Android 15. Reviews report two major Android updates and three years of security patches, a shorter commitment than some buyers may want for a phone they plan to keep for years. Confirm the current policy for your region before purchase. Reports of Android 16 and XOS 16 updates reaching some users do not establish a global rollout or identical availability on every regional model. The cited India listings include 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB versions; configurations may differ elsewhere. Android Central preferred 12GB for multitasking headroom, but extra RAM alone does not guarantee higher game frame rates.

In India, Android Central reported launch prices of ₹24,999 for 8GB/256GB and ₹26,999 for 12GB/256GB. An official India store listing showed a ₹27,999 sale price for one 8GB/256GB configuration, while other store listings showed different prices by variant or page state. These are India-specific figures from different listings and price contexts, not a single current price applicable to every buyer. Check the seller’s live price and exact configuration before ordering. Android Central’s review reports launch pricing; the India store shows its buying listings.
The available official pages cited here cover global product information and India sales, not a verified U.S. retail offer. U.S. buyers should not assume carrier compatibility or local support. Before importing, verify the exact model’s LTE and 5G bands, VoLTE support, warranty, return policy, Google Play certification, charger compatibility and whether features such as NFC or wireless charging apply to that regional version.
Who should choose the GT 30 Pro?
- Competitive mobile gamer: A strong fit if your favorite landscape games benefit from two extra mapped inputs and support the control setup.
- Casual gamer: The capable display and hardware may still appeal, but the triggers add less value if your games rarely need several simultaneous controls.
- Camera-first buyer: Look elsewhere if low-light photography, ultrawide quality or stabilized video matters more than gaming controls.
- Long-term software buyer: Weigh the reported update commitment against your expected ownership period and confirm the policy in your market.
- U.S. importer: Treat network compatibility, warranty and returns as prerequisites, not details to check after purchase.
If your priority is raw performance rather than integrated shoulder inputs, Android Central points to the POCO X7 Pro as a relevant alternative; it does not have the GT 30 Pro’s built-in triggers. Dedicated RedMagic phones are another category to consider if you want a more gaming-focused design and cooling, while a standard performance phone may better suit camera, software-support or carrier priorities. Compare current local models and prices before deciding: the available evidence here does not establish a current competing price.

Verdict
The GT 30 Pro’s distinctive strength is control as much as speed. For players who will use the GT Triggers in supported competitive games, it offers extra inputs without carrying a separate controller, backed by a high-refresh AMOLED display and capable mid-range hardware. Its case is weaker if you rarely game, want flagship-level cameras or sustained GPU performance, expect long software support, or need assured U.S. carrier compatibility.
