Spoilers for A Minecraft Movie: The film has two credits scenes. The mid-credits scene wraps up Vice Principal Marlene and the Nitwit’s romance; the final post-credits scene brings Steve back to his former home, where he meets its new resident, Alex. Her introduction suggests a possible sequel direction, but the scene does not explain her connection to Steve or confirm what happens next.
What happens in A Minecraft Movie’s credits scenes?
There are two scenes: one during the credits and one after them. The first is a comic resolution to a subplot; the second ends the film with a new character and an unanswered question.

Mid-credits: Marlene and the Nitwit
Marlene’s ex interrupts her relationship with the Nitwit. The Nitwit speaks human language to defend their relationship, while Marlene answers in Villager. They finish by declaring their love. Destructoid describes the pair as engaged. The scene pays off their romance joke rather than advancing Steve’s story.
The Nitwit is voiced by Matt Berry, as GamesRadar+ notes.

After the credits: Steve meets Alex
Steve returns to the human world and visits his old home, which now has a different resident. The woman is initially seen from behind; her red-orange hair and green clothing evoke Alex from the games. She identifies herself as Alex, and the scene ends without clarifying whether she knows Steve or how they might be connected. Steve’s reaction is ambiguous.
What does Alex’s appearance mean for a sequel?
What the scene shows: Steve visits his former home and meets a woman who says her name is Alex. What it suggests: introducing another iconic Minecraft character at the end of Steve’s story is a natural way to open the door to a further adventure. That sequel-hook reading is an interpretation of the scene, not a confirmed plot description.

- Runtime: 101 minutes
The film does not explain Alex’s history with Steve, what is inside the chest, or what either of them does next. Those are open questions, not established facts about the sequel. The cited announcement also did not confirm Alex’s involvement.
Has a sequel to A Minecraft Movie been confirmed?
Yes. The Associated Press reported that Warner Bros. announced a sequel planned for July 2027. The studio teaser caption cited in the AP report gave the date as July 23, 2027. AP reported that Jared Hess would return to direct and co-write, with Jason Momoa among the producers. At the time of that announcement, no official plot or cast details had been disclosed. The announcement does not establish the sequel’s title, Alex’s role, or whether it will continue the chest storyline.

How many post-credits scenes should you wait for?
Watch through both scenes if you want the full ending: Marlene and the Nitwit’s mid-credits romance payoff, followed by Steve meeting Alex after the credits. The first resolves a comic subplot; the second introduces a possible thread for a future film without spelling out its story.
