A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead turns the franchise’s sound-sensitive monsters into the core of a first-person stealth-horror adventure: hide, distract, and slip past them without giving away your position. “Hide-and-seek” describes that cat-and-mouse tension, not a separate game mode.

How the hide-and-seek gameplay works

The creatures hunt by sound, so the central challenge is managing the noise you make while moving through dangerous spaces. Saber Interactive describes the loop as hiding, distracting enemies, and sneaking past them; even one noise can reveal a player’s position. The publisher’s description makes sound the threat to plan around, rather than presenting combat as the main attraction. Saber Interactive’s gameplay announcement frames the experience around that tension.

That makes “hide-and-seek” a useful shorthand for the encounters, not the official name of a mode. Players must observe their surroundings, choose when to move, and make use of available tools to avoid or redirect creatures. The available official descriptions establish this broad stealth premise, but do not provide a complete inventory of tools or a detailed account of every encounter mechanic.

What kind of game is it?

Developed by Stormind Games and published by Saber Interactive, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a first-person, single-player horror adventure set in the world inspired by the A Quiet Place films. It tells a new survivor story about a young woman facing a treacherous apocalypse, family conflict, and personal fears. It is not a multiplayer hide-and-seek game, and the official description identifies it as first-person. Stormind Games’ game page outlines the premise and release details.

Optional microphone noise detection

The PC version’s Steam listing includes an optional setting called “Microphone Noise Detection.” When enabled with a connected microphone or headset, creatures can react to sound picked up from the player’s microphone. It is an additional way to bring real-world noise into the stealth premise; it is not required to play. Steam’s listing describes the feature.

Using the microphone feature on PS5

Saber’s support guidance says PS5 microphone input depends on several settings being correct: “Mute Game Voice Chat” must be off, the DualSense microphone must be active, the console’s microphone perception level must be set appropriately, and the in-game microphone feature must be enabled. If the game does not appear to hear you, check those settings before troubleshooting the hardware. Saber’s FAQ provides the setup conditions.
