The account comes from a social-media video and comments summarized by The Nerd Stash; the report does not independently establish what happened to the belongings or whether anyone stole them.
What Ella said happened after the move
In a report published October 2, 2026, The Nerd Stash described a video Ella introduced with the words “HOW PIECE OF CAKE MOVING LEFT MY APARTMENT:”. The video showed items and mess left in the apartment, according to the report.
In the comments, Ella wrote: “A TV, 2 bottles of scotch, and my ID are mysteriously missing.” The report identifies the mover as Piece of Cake Moving & Storage and says Ella later reported that the company offered a refund and to return to pack the remaining items. It does not say whether she accepted the offer, whether the company returned, or how the missing-property issue was ultimately resolved. What to do if movers lose belongings in New York
The right next step depends on whether the move was entirely within New York State or crossed state lines, and on whether the problem is missing or damaged goods versus a service, contract or paperwork dispute.

1. Send a written claim to the mover
For a move wholly within New York State, NYSDOT advises notifying the moving company in writing as soon as possible about loss or damage. Its guidance says the mover must acknowledge a written claim within 30 days and resolve it within 120 days. Keep a copy of the claim and proof that you sent it. 2. Assemble the records for each item
Gather the estimate or order for service, bill of lading, inventory, payment records, photographs and written communications. Describe each missing or damaged item clearly and include any available evidence of ownership and value. NYSDOT and the New York Attorney General advise consumers to understand the mover’s valuation or coverage terms; record missing items or visible damage on the final bill of lading where possible, and submit a written claim promptly. 3. Choose the complaint route that matches the dispute
