Aaron Donald missed Rams practice Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, for a second straight day, and the NFL’s Week 4 injury listing designated him out for Los Angeles’ game against Philadelphia. The reported issue was his back.
Did Aaron Donald practice Thursday?
No. NBC Sports reported on Oct. 1 that the Rams defensive lineman did not practice for the second consecutive day. The report listed a back issue; that designation does not establish a medical diagnosis or the injury’s severity.
The update came during Los Angeles’ Week 4 preparations for its road game against the Eagles. NBC Sports said the Rams’ injury report was otherwise unchanged from Wednesday, apart from wide receiver Davante Adams returning after a rest day and defensive lineman Poona Ford taking a rest day. Is Donald playing against the Eagles?
No. The NFL’s Week 4 injury listing recorded Donald as not participating in practice and listed his game status as out for the Rams-Eagles matchup. The NFL identifies him as a defensive tackle, while NBC Sports calls him a defensive end; “defensive lineman” avoids that difference in position labels. NFL Week 4 injury listing

What was known about his return earlier in the season?
In a Sept. 8 NFL.com report, Rams coach Sean McVay said Donald would miss the Week 1 game against San Francisco, with his return waiting until at least Week 2. McVay said, “I think he’ll be ready to go sooner rather than later, but we’re making a decision that we think is best for him and for our team.” He also described the turnaround after two years away as “a really quick turnaround.” That earlier report provides context only; it does not explain the back issue reported in Week 4 or establish when Donald would return.
