“acdcgridas.dll is missing” — start here
acdcgridas.dll is missing when Windows cannot load the Objective Grid component required by an older application. You may instead see “acdcgridas.dll was not found,” “Error loading acdcgridas.dll,” or “The specified module could not be found.”
This is not a Windows system DLL. It is an application component associated with Objective Grid, an MFC grid-control library originally published by Rogue Wave Software and now documented under Perforce’s Stingray product line.
The safest repair is to restore the application that installed it. Do not download a replacement DLL from a random file site or copy it into System32.

- The application names
acdcgridas.dllas missing: repair or reinstall that application from its original installer or licensed recovery media. - The file exists in the application folder, but Windows says the module could not be found: a dependent MFC, Visual C++, or other runtime component may be missing.
- The error appeared after antivirus activity: check Windows Security Protection history before reinstalling.
- The program stopped working after an update, cleanup, or disk problem: use the application’s repair function, restore a verified backup, or consider System Restore.
- You cannot identify the parent application: inspect the exact install folder, shortcuts, uninstall entries, Event Viewer, and installer logs.

- The program is a game or managed launcher package: use its file-verification feature before attempting manual fixes.
What acdcgridas.dll does
The internal description reported for the file is:
ObjGrid DLL Shared Library - Release Version
Objective Grid provides grid, table, and spreadsheet-style interface controls for native Windows software. In a shared-library installation, the application loads an Objective Grid DLL at startup or when opening a particular window. If that file is removed, renamed, damaged, or incompatible with the executable, the program can stop before its main window appears.
Objective Grid can also be linked statically into an application. That means not every Objective Grid program must contain the same DLL, and a similarly named file from another release is not necessarily a valid replacement.
Objective Grid libraries are dependent on the build configuration. The application may require a particular compiler runtime, platform variant, or configuration. The exact build cannot be determined from the filename alone.
Is it part of Windows
No. acdcgridas.dll is not a standard Windows component and should not normally be placed in:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Application DLLs are usually loaded from the application’s own directory. A system-folder copy can cause the wrong version to load, create conflicts with other software, and make future repairs harder.
Is it 32-bit or 64-bit
Some old public file records describe a 32-bit build, but that information does not prove that every copy of acdcgridas.dll has the same architecture or version.
A 32-bit application can require a 32-bit DLL even when Windows 11 or Windows 10 is 64-bit. Windows provides compatibility support for 32-bit applications, but it still needs the matching 32-bit libraries. Do not replace a missing application file with a 64-bit copy simply because your operating system is 64-bit.
The application executable and its dependent DLLs must match. The correct file is the one supplied with that exact application build.

This is the highest-probability fix because Objective Grid is distributed with the software that uses it.
Identify the parent application
Start with the shortcut that produces the error.
- Right-click the program’s shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Read the Target field.
- Note the folder containing the executable.
- Open that folder in File Explorer and check whether
acdcgridas.dllis present.
You can also search the installed applications list:

- Press Windows+i.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for the program that fails.
- Open its menu and look for Modify, Change, Repair, or a similar option.
Older software may not expose a repair button in Windows Settings. In that case, open the original installer from the application’s installation disc, archived licensed installer, or the software vendor’s official support channel.
Run Repair
If the installer offers repair:
- Close the affected application.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Choose Repair, Modify, or Repair installation.
- Keep the original installation folder selected.
- Allow the installer to restore shared files and dependencies.
- Restart Windows if the installer requests it.
- Launch the application again.
A successful repair normally restores acdcgridas.dll to the application directory and allows the program to pass its startup checks.
If Repair completes but the error remains, compare the installation directory with the installer’s file list or log. The installer may have restored the DLL while another dependency is still missing.
Reinstall from trusted media
If Repair is unavailable or fails:
- Back up the application’s personal data, profiles, saves, templates, and license information.
- Record the current installation path.
- Uninstall the application through Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the original installer from trusted installation media.
- Install the same edition and architecture as before.
- Apply the application’s official update, if one is available.
- Restart Windows and test the program.
Do not uninstall old Visual C++ Redistributable entries just to clean up the list. Legacy applications can depend on older runtime generations, and multiple generations can coexist.
If the installer is no longer available, contact the software vendor or retrieve the application from your own licensed recovery media. The vendor’s installer is the definitive source for the matching acdcgridas.dll.
Fix 2: Check whether a dependency is actually missing
Windows can report that the specified module could not be found even when acdcgridas.dll is visibly present. In that situation, the missing item may be a dependency loaded by acdcgridas.dll, such as an MFC or Visual C++ runtime library.

- Open the application’s installation folder.
- Look for
acdcgridas.dll. - If it is absent, return to the repair or reinstall step.
- If it is present, do not overwrite it immediately.
- Check the application’s installer log or use a reputable dependency-analysis tool to identify the missing module.
The exact wording matters:
- “acdcgridas.dll was not found” usually points to a missing, misplaced, or inaccessible file.
- “The specified module could not be found” can indicate a missing dependency.
- “Entry point not found” often indicates a version mismatch rather than a missing file.
- “Bad image” can indicate corruption or an architecture mismatch.
Install the required Visual C++ architecture
Use the application installer first. If it identifies a Visual C++ or MFC dependency, install the Microsoft package required by the application.
Microsoft provides the supported packages on its Latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads page.
On 64-bit Windows, a 32-bit application normally requires the x86 redistributable. A 64-bit application requires x64. If you run both types of software, both packages may be needed.
To install:
- Close the affected application.
- Open Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable page.
- Download the architecture required by the application.
- Right-click the downloaded installer and select Run as administrator.
- Accept the license terms.
- Choose Install or Repair if that option appears.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application again.
The Visual C++ package does not contain acdcgridas.dll. It only supplies runtime components that the application or Objective Grid build may depend on.

- Burn to DVD, share online or save to a portable device

For a very old application, the required compiler runtime may predate Microsoft’s current unified package. If the current redistributable does not resolve the dependency, use the application vendor’s installer or ask the vendor which runtime generation belongs with that release. Do not guess based only on the DLL filename.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an application DLL after an update, disk scan, or false positive.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Look for an entry whose path matches the affected application.
- Confirm that the file came from the legitimate application installation.
- Scan the original installer before restoring anything.
- Restore the file only when its publisher and source are trustworthy.
- Reinstall the application instead if there is any doubt.
Microsoft explains this process in its Protection History guidance.
Do not disable antivirus protection permanently to make the error disappear. If the file is repeatedly quarantined, contact the application vendor and verify the installer’s authenticity.

Fix 4: Verify files through the application or game launcher
Some launchers include a file-verification feature that compares installed files with the publisher’s copy and downloads missing files.
The exact menu name varies. Look for Verify, Verify integrity, Repair, or Scan and repair in the launcher’s settings or the application’s library entry.
A typical process is:
- Close the application.
- Open its official launcher.
- Select the application or game.
- Open its settings or management menu.
- Choose the file-verification or repair command.
- Wait for the scan to finish.
- Allow the launcher to replace missing or damaged files.
- Restart the launcher and test the application.
This is appropriate only when the software is managed by a launcher. It will not repair an unrelated legacy desktop program.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use DISM and SFC when Windows itself shows signs of component corruption, or when several applications report missing Windows dependencies. They are not the primary repair for acdcgridas.dll, because Windows normally does not own or catalog this third-party file.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application.
Microsoft documents DISM image repair and System File Checker.
If SFC says it repaired files, test the application after restarting. If it reports no violations, that does not prove the third-party DLL is healthy. If the error remains, return to the application installer.

Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without identifying what changed rarely helps. If you want to avoid hunting through repair results and manually deciding which Windows component needs attention, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported system problems; its free scan shows what it finds, while repair is handled by the full version. Reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when acdcgridas.dll itself is missing.
Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent change
System Restore is useful when the program worked immediately before an update, cleanup utility, driver installation, or other system change.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Press Windows+R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point dated before the failure began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
You can also reach it through Windows Recovery Environment → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → System Restore.
Microsoft’s System Restore guidance explains what the process changes. It affects system files, settings, and installed programs, but not ordinary personal files.
If the restore point does not solve the problem, repair or reinstall the parent application. System Restore cannot guarantee that an application-distributed DLL will be restored.
Fix 7: Update drivers only when the evidence points there
A graphics or chipset driver normally does not install acdcgridas.dll, so driver updates are not a first-line solution for this specific error. Consider them when the application also crashes with display, hardware-acceleration, or device-related errors.
To check manually:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Note the provider and driver date.
- Use Update driver or download the driver from the hardware manufacturer.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Do not use Device Manager to search the internet for a replacement DLL. It manages device drivers, not application libraries.
Manually hunting through hardware pages and guessing which of many drivers is stale can take longer than the actual repair. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and show reported driver issues; its free scan identifies findings, while driver installation is handled by the full version. A driver update is not a substitute for reinstalling the application that owns acdcgridas.dll.
Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair command. It is intended for self-registering COM-style DLLs that expose registration functions such as DllRegisterServer.
Objective Grid is documented as an MFC extension library, not as a COM component that must be registered for a normal launch. Running this command is therefore unlikely to repair a missing-file error:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

regsvr32 acdcgridas.dll
You may receive an error saying that DllRegisterServer was not found. That does not mean the DLL is necessarily corrupt. It means the file does not provide the registration entry point that regsvr32 expects.
Use regsvr32 only when the application vendor specifically instructs you to register that exact component.

What not to do
Avoid these common shortcuts:
- Do not download
acdcgridas.dllfrom an unverified DLL website. - Do not copy a random replacement into
System32orSysWOW64. - Do not assume an old 32-bit build works with every application.
- Do not mix files from different Objective Grid releases.
- Do not install a Visual C++ package and assume it contains this DLL.
- Do not delete existing redistributable versions indiscriminately.
- Do not disable antivirus protection permanently.
- Do not run
regsvr32as a generic repair step.
A downloaded file can contain malware, target the wrong architecture, export the wrong functions, or fail because the real problem is a missing dependency. The safe sources are the original application installer, the software publisher’s official support channel, licensed recovery media, and Microsoft’s official runtime downloads when a dependency has been identified.
Prevention after the repair
Once the application starts:
- Keep a copy of the original installer and license information.
- Record the application version and installation path.
- Add the application’s normal update process to your maintenance routine.
- Avoid registry cleaners and “DLL fixer” utilities that remove files automatically.
- Keep antivirus definitions and Windows updated.
- Back up application data separately from the program files.
- If antivirus quarantines the DLL again, stop launching the program and investigate the detection.
- Do not replace a working application DLL with a file from another computer.
When to contact the software vendor
Escalate to the application vendor if repair and reinstall do not work. Provide:
- The exact error message.
- The application name and version.
- The full installation path.
- Whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Your Windows version and system architecture.
- Whether
acdcgridas.dllexists in the application folder. - Any dependency-analysis result.
- Relevant installer-log entries.
- Whether Windows Security quarantined the file.
- What changed immediately before the failure.
This information lets the vendor determine whether the problem is a missing Objective Grid file, an incompatible build, a missing MFC or Visual C++ dependency, or a damaged installation.
FAQ
Is acdcgridas.dll a Windows file?
No. It is associated with Objective Grid and is normally supplied by the third-party application that uses the library.
Which application installed it?
The filename alone does not identify one universal parent application. Check the shortcut target, application installation folders, uninstall entries, installer logs, and Windows Security Protection history.
Can I download the DLL separately?
That is unsafe and often ineffective. The correct file must match the application’s build, architecture, and dependencies. Restore it through the application’s official installer instead.
Why does a 32-bit program need a DLL on 64-bit Windows?
A 32-bit program needs 32-bit dependencies even when the operating system is 64-bit. Install the runtime architecture required by the application, not simply the architecture of Windows.
Will installing Visual C++ fix the error?
Only if the actual missing item is a Visual C++ or MFC dependency. Visual C++ Redistributable does not install acdcgridas.dll.
Should I put the file in System32?
No. Application DLLs normally belong beside the application executable. Use the installer to restore the correct location.
Should I register it with regsvr32?
Usually not. An MFC extension DLL is not automatically a COM self-registering DLL, and registration will not restore a missing dependency.

Normally no. SFC repairs protected Windows system files, not third-party application files. Use SFC and DISM when Windows component corruption is also suspected.
What if the file exists but the error remains?
Treat “specified module could not be found” as a possible dependency failure. Check the installer log or use dependency analysis, then install the runtime named by the application vendor.
Is the old DLL compatible with Windows 11?
The exact compatibility of a historical build cannot be guaranteed from the filename. Use the application vendor’s supported installer and compatibility guidance, and test the repaired application in its original configuration.
