Acer’s Predator Helios Neo line includes RTX 5070 Ti options in 16- and 18-inch gaming laptops, but the GPU is not standard across every configuration. The biggest buying distinction is between the performance-oriented Helios Neo 16 AI, which Acer lists with up to 170W graphics power, and the thinner Neo 16S AI, listed at up to 115W. Both use a 12GB RTX 5070 Ti in the configurations covered here, but their power limits, displays, memory and portability differ.
The Neo 16 AI and Neo 18 AI were announced in February 2025; Acer had introduced the Neo 16S AI in January. Acer has since announced a 2026 Helios Neo refresh with GPUs up to RTX 5080, so buyers comparing current products should check the full model number and GPU rather than relying on the family name alone.
Which Predator Helios Neo models offer an RTX 5070 Ti?
Acer’s announcements cover three distinct designs. The February 7, 2025 announcement introduced the Predator Helios Neo 16 AI and Predator Helios Neo 18 AI, each available in configurations up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. The thinner Predator Helios Neo 16S AI was part of Acer’s January 2025 CES-era lineup and was also announced with an RTX 5070 Ti option. Acer’s launch materials list RTX 5070 alternatives too, so “up to RTX 5070 Ti” does not mean every machine with a Helios Neo name has that GPU.

Why the laptop RTX 5070 Ti power rating matters
The RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU is based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell generation. The Acer RTX 5070 Ti configurations identified in its US technical listings have 12GB of GDDR7 memory and support the platform’s features, including ray tracing, DLSS 4 and NVIDIA Reflex. These features can help in supported games, but they do not make every game faster in the same way. DLSS frame generation, for example, can add displayed frames; generated frames are not equivalent to the same increase in frames rendered natively.
More importantly, the GPU name alone does not tell you how a laptop will perform. Acer lists the standard Neo 16 AI RTX 5070 Ti at up to 170W maximum graphics power, compared with up to 115W for the Neo 16S AI RTX 5070 Ti. The difference reflects the designs’ different power and thermal envelopes. It is a reason to expect the standard 16 to have more potential for sustained GPU performance, not proof that it wins every game or workload. Actual results also depend on cooling, firmware, CPU, memory, game settings and whether the laptop is plugged in. Do not treat desktop RTX 5070 Ti results as a proxy for either laptop.
Acer lists its specifications on the Neo 16 AI technical page and the Neo 16S AI technical page. They establish configurations and limits, not independent benchmark results.

Neo 16 AI versus Neo 16S AI
The standard Neo 16 AI is the more performance-oriented choice on paper. The 16S is for buyers who put a thinner chassis and OLED screen ahead of the highest listed GPU power ceiling. Their headline GPU tier can be identical, but their trade-offs are not.
| Category | Helios Neo 16 AI | Helios Neo 16S AI |
|---|---|---|
| RTX 5070 Ti maximum graphics power listed by Acer | Up to 170W | Up to 115W |
| Display choices | SKU-dependent: 16-inch 2560×1600 IPS options and an OLED option; refresh rates and panel details vary | 16-inch 2560×1600 OLED options, including 240Hz or 165Hz variants in Acer’s published material |
| Announced memory ceiling | Up to 64GB DDR5-6400 | Up to 32GB onboard DDR5-6400 |
| Announced battery capacity | 90Wh | 76Wh |
| Announced weight | About 2.7kg | About 2.3kg |
| Design emphasis | Higher performance headroom and upgrade options, with a larger, heavier chassis | Thinner and easier to carry, with less listed GPU power and onboard memory |
The standard Neo 16 AI announcement lists Core Ultra 9 275HX or Core Ultra 7 255HX processors, up to 64GB of memory, up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage and two SSD slots. Acer also describes fifth-generation AeroBlade 3D fans, liquid-metal thermal grease and vector heat pipes. It announced multiple 16-inch displays, including 2560×1600 OLED at 240Hz and IPS options at 240Hz or lower refresh rates. None of those family maximums should be assumed for every retail unit.
The 16S announcement lists the same two processor options, up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 storage, Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4, in a chassis listed at 12.0–19.9mm thick. Its memory is described as onboard, so check the precise SKU and upgrade possibilities before buying; do not assume it offers the same memory flexibility as the standard Neo 16.

What the Neo 18 AI adds
The Helios Neo 18 AI is the largest of the three. Acer announced configurations up to the Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070 Ti, alongside an 18-inch 2560×1600 Mini LED display option with up to a 250Hz refresh rate. Acer also lists NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus for the announced display configuration. The larger screen is useful if the laptop will often stay on a desk, but the larger chassis makes this a less portable choice than either 16-inch model. As with the other models, verify the panel and GPU on the particular regional SKU.

A later US store listing for the specific PHN16-73-97FV RTX 5070 Ti configuration showed a regular price of $2,049.99 and a sale price of $1,969.99 when observed in August 2026. Prices, promotions and stock change; this is a dated example, not a guaranteed current offer. The listed configuration pairs a Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB of DDR5, a 1TB SSD and a 16-inch 2560×1600 IPS display at 240Hz. Check the Acer US product listing for current details.
The gap between family and SKU specifications matters. Acer announced Neo 16 AI configurations up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB storage, but the retail example above has 16GB and 1TB. Likewise, the fact that the family offers an OLED panel does not mean this IPS SKU has one.

What “AI” means here
“AI” refers to several separate capabilities, not a blanket promise of faster games. Intel Core Ultra processors include an NPU for supported AI tasks. Acer promotes PredatorSense and Experience Zone software, including PurifiedView camera and PurifiedVoice microphone enhancements. NVIDIA’s RTX platform uses AI-assisted graphics features such as DLSS. Whether any of these help depends on the application and feature support; the label by itself does not establish better gaming performance or longer battery life.
Which one should you consider?
- Choose the standard Neo 16 AI for performance headroom if you will mostly game at a desk, value the higher listed RTX 5070 Ti power limit, or want the family’s greater announced memory capacity and two SSD slots. Confirm upgradeability and the exact GPU power configuration for the SKU you are buying.
- Consider the Neo 16S AI for portability and OLED if you carry the laptop often and prefer the OLED options. Its 115W listed RTX 5070 Ti power ceiling is lower than the standard 16’s, so the thinner design involves a graphics-power trade-off. Check that the particular 16S actually has an RTX 5070 Ti.
- Consider the Neo 18 AI for a large screen if the laptop will mainly serve as a desktop replacement and you want the announced Mini LED, high-refresh display option. Confirm the GPU and display in the regional listing.
- Compare an RTX 5070 Neo 16 if price matters most. Acer’s US store also listed a Neo 16 AI with Core Ultra 7 255HX, RTX 5070 with 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB storage and a 240Hz 2560×1600 IPS display at $1,799.99 regular and $1,689.99 on sale when observed in August 2026. That is a lower-priced, lower-GPU-tier alternative, not an RTX 5070 Ti deal; compare the price difference with the games, resolution and settings you care about.
Before you buy: verify the exact configuration
- Find the full model and part number. PHN16-73, PHN18-72 and PHN16S-71 identify different families, while retailer suffixes can specify materially different hardware.
- Confirm the GPU tier and graphics power. Make sure the SKU says RTX 5070 Ti rather than RTX 5070, and check the power figure where Acer provides it.
- Check the screen itself. Confirm IPS or OLED, resolution, refresh rate and any stated panel features; family pages may cover several panels.
- Check installed memory and whether it can be upgraded. Do not confuse “up to” family capacity with the RAM included in a particular listing, or assume onboard memory is replaceable.
- Verify storage and expansion. Check the SSD capacity in the box and whether a second slot is available and accessible on that model.
- Consider weight and power supply. A thinner chassis does not necessarily mean a light travel setup once the adapter is included.
- Set realistic battery expectations. Capacity figures are not runtime tests, and gaming performance is intended primarily for plugged-in use.
- Check local price, warranty and stock. Launch guidance and US store listings do not establish what is available or priced in another country.
How the 2026 refresh changes the context
The RTX 5070 Ti Neo models are 2025-era configurations, not the newest Helios Neo announcement. On March 17, 2026, Acer announced a refresh with Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors and graphics options up to RTX 5080. Acer’s later US Neo 16S AI material also includes a configuration with Core Ultra 9 386H and RTX 5070, showing why the “16S AI” name alone does not identify the GPU generation or tier. See Acer’s 2026 refresh announcement and check the current 16S AI page against the specific part number.
For a buyer, the practical question is whether a 2025 RTX 5070 Ti model is the right fit at its current price, not whether it was Acer’s newest announcement. A clearance price may make an older model appealing, but compare the complete configuration—including GPU power, memory, panel and warranty—with the newer alternatives available where you live.
