Acer unveiled the Predator Orion X on April 20, 2023, as a compact gaming desktop configurable with up to an Intel Core i9-13900KS and a liquid-cooled NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. Its 15.4-liter chassis makes that combination unusual, but those are maximum launch specifications—not parts found in every Orion X. Acer’s current U.S. product page says specifications vary by model and region and identifies the RTX 4090 configuration with model POX-955. It does not establish a current U.S. price or stock status for that configuration.

These are not universal specifications for every system bearing the Orion X name. Acer cautions that configurations vary by model and region; its U.S. page says the RTX 4090 and associated cooling arrangement apply to model POX-955. Check the exact SKU and its configuration before comparing listings or buying.
A 2023 launch, not a new 2026 announcement
Acer announced the Predator Orion X on April 20, 2023, positioning it as a high-performance gaming desktop in a smaller-than-usual enclosure. The headline combination—Core i9-13900KS and RTX 4090—was the announced top configuration, not a guarantee about the base model or every regional version. Acer’s launch announcement describes the machine and its maximum processor and graphics options.
At 15.4 liters, the Orion X is compact relative to a conventional enthusiast tower, but it is still a desktop PC, not a mini-PC. Its appeal is the attempt to fit flagship-class components into a relatively small footprint while retaining internal access for some upgrades.

How the 15.4-liter chassis is arranged
Acer divides the interior into three zones: one for the CPU, motherboard, power supply, memory and M.2 storage; a second for the graphics card and two 2.5-inch SATA drive positions; and a third for the top-mounted radiator and cooling access. The layout is meant to keep key areas reachable without treating the system as a sealed compact box.
The exterior and access details include a removable magnetic front cover, metal side panels and an internal door-release mechanism. Acer also describes a hot-swappable M.2 storage bay and a headset cradle shaped like a mechanical arm. Those touches make the design distinctive, but practical access should not be confused with universal parts compatibility.
Cooling the CPU and RTX 4090
Acer lists a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler for the processor and describes a custom liquid-cooled RTX 4090 implementation. The GPU cooling arrangement is central to fitting that card into the compact chassis; Acer’s launch materials also mention FrostBlade 2.0 fans. Details can differ across models, so these claims should be tied to the appropriate SKU rather than generalized to every Orion X.

Liquid cooling is an engineering choice, not proof of a particular temperature, noise level or sustained clock speed. A high-wattage CPU and GPU in a smaller enclosure leave less physical room for airflow, radiator placement and cable routing than a large tower. Acer’s specifications alone do not establish how loud or cool the machine runs during a particular game or creator workload.
What “upgradeable” means—and what to verify
The clearest upgrade paths in Acer’s materials are memory and storage: the referenced configuration is described with up to 64GB of DDR5, an M.2 SSD, and two 2.5-inch SATA drive positions. The case design also provides access to the internal zones. But the Orion X is a compact prebuilt, and the word “upgradeable” does not mean every component is a standard retail part or that every replacement is straightforward.
Before buying or planning upgrades, confirm the exact model’s motherboard and power-supply form factors, available memory slots, which storage bays are populated, and the clearances for replacement parts. For an RTX 4090 version, ask whether a replacement graphics card can be used with the existing custom cooling hardware, whether replacement coolant components are available, and what service options Acer supports. The supplied product information does not settle those questions for every SKU.

This matters most for buyers who expect to swap GPUs frequently. A larger conventional tower usually offers more room, expansion options and off-the-shelf compatibility. A custom Mini-ITX build may provide more control over component selection, but demands careful checks of GPU dimensions, radiator fit, power delivery and warranty coverage.
Ports, networking and software
Acer lists Intel Killer E3100G wired networking and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX211 wireless networking, along with front USB-C and USB-A connections, microphone and audio jacks, and rear USB-C, USB-A and RJ45 ports. Port availability can vary by SKU, so use the model-specific specification sheet to confirm the connections you need.
PredatorSense 4.0 is Acer’s control utility for system monitoring, operating modes, overclocking-related controls and addressable RGB lighting, according to the product page. Features and software support may vary with model and updates; do not assume every regional configuration exposes an identical set of controls.

What performance to expect
On paper, a Core i9-13900KS and RTX 4090 are flagship components from the product’s launch era, intended for demanding games, high-resolution play, ray tracing and GPU-heavy creative work. That describes their class, not measured Orion X results: the available specifications do not provide independent benchmarks, temperatures or acoustic readings. Actual performance also depends on the exact configuration, software and workload.
By 2026, the launch platform is no longer the newest generation. Buyers weighing a remaining Orion X against a current desktop should compare the whole system—price, warranty, processor and GPU generation, cooling, and upgrade path—rather than treating the RTX 4090 label alone as a recommendation.
Price and availability
Acer’s 2023 announcement did not establish a universal price, and the available information does not verify a current U.S. price or in-stock offer for the Core i9-13900KS/RTX 4090 configuration. Availability is likely to depend on region and remaining inventory. Treat any listing as a specific offer: verify its date, country, exact model number, processor, GPU and cooling configuration instead of assuming that a generic Orion X page proves the flagship version is for sale.

Who should consider the Orion X?
The Orion X is most compelling for someone who values a compact footprint and prebuilt convenience but still wants the possibility of high-end GPU performance. It consolidates assembly and manufacturer support in a striking chassis, and the 15.4-liter size is a meaningful alternative to a full tower.
It is a weaker fit if your priorities are the newest available hardware, the lowest price for a given performance level, frequent GPU changes, many expansion cards, multiple large drives or maximum repairability. In those cases, compare a newer Acer Predator Orion desktop, a conventional gaming tower or a carefully planned small-form-factor build. Acer’s current U.S. Orion range page lists newer Orion 7000 systems with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and GeForce RTX 5090, though those larger systems do not offer the Orion X’s same compact footprint: Acer Predator Orion range.
In short: The Predator Orion X was a real and ambitious 2023 compact-desktop launch. Its headline RTX 4090 and Core i9-13900KS are maximum-configuration claims, not default specifications. The precise SKU—and whether a suitable unit is currently available in your region—matters as much as the product name.
