The headline “Activision Blizzard games are no longer on GeForce NOW” is historically accurate for February 2020, but misleading now. Activision Blizzard requested the removal of its games shortly after GeForce NOW left beta. Since Microsoft’s acquisition, a Microsoft–NVIDIA agreement and Ubisoft’s cloud-streaming rights have brought selected Activision and Blizzard games back. As of August 18, 2026, availability is selective: it depends on the title, store version, region, account and, for some games, Ubisoft+ Premium.
Why Activision Blizzard games disappeared in 2020
GeForce NOW left beta in February 2020. Activision Blizzard then asked NVIDIA to remove its games, including major Blizzard releases and older Activision titles. Contemporary reports identified Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Diablo III and Call of Duty among the affected games (Game Informer; PC Gamer).
A later federal-court exhibit records a removal date of about February 8, 2020 and lists Diablo III, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, StarCraft Remastered, StarCraft II, World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft Classic and Call of Duty: Black Ops III – GFN PC, among others (court exhibit).
The episode was generally described as an authorization or licensing misunderstanding, not proof that these games were technically incompatible with cloud streaming. It also was not announced as a permanent publisher ban.

When did the games return?
- February 8, 2020: Activision Blizzard titles were removed around this date.
- February 21, 2023: Microsoft and NVIDIA announced a 10-year partnership. The announcement said Xbox PC games—and Activision Blizzard PC games such as Call of Duty after the acquisition—would be eligible for GeForce NOW (NVIDIA announcement).
- October 13, 2023: Ubisoft finalized a transaction giving it worldwide cloud-streaming rights to existing Activision Blizzard games and releases for the following 15 years. The arrangement includes downloadable content, expansions and add-ons; it is non-exclusive in the European Economic Area (Ubisoft release).
- 2024 onward: NVIDIA added or expanded support for Call of Duty, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2 and other specific entries (NVIDIA; NVIDIA).
- December 4, 2025: Ubisoft+ Premium cloud access began with Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Ubisoft).
- January–February 2026: Prototype and Prototype 2 followed in January; Diablo and Diablo II: Resurrected became available through cloud partners, including GeForce NOW, on February 18 (Ubisoft).
Which games are on GeForce NOW now?
NVIDIA’s support page, updated December 18, 2025, is the operational reference for supported titles, store entries and known issues. Its listed Activision Blizzard-related entries include the following:
| Title or series | Access route | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Call of Duty HQ, Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Warzone | Supported NVIDIA listings for specific PC stores | Store version and launcher entry matter; Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III moved to standalone downloads in July 2025 |
| Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo IV | Selected NVIDIA-supported entries; some editions also appear through Ubisoft+ | Do not assume every Diablo edition or launcher is supported |
| Overwatch 2 | NVIDIA-supported entry | Battle.net account linking is required; local Highlights saving is not supported |
| World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft Classic | NVIDIA-supported entries | Classic versions are separate entries and cannot be switched during a stream |
Check the exact listing at NVIDIA’s supported-games page. A title appearing there does not mean every Steam, Battle.net, Xbox/Microsoft Store or Ubisoft Connect edition is available.

Why availability is not universal
Five different questions are often conflated:
- Who owns the publisher? Microsoft owns Activision Blizzard.
- Who has cloud-streaming rights? Ubisoft received important rights through the acquisition remedy.
- Is the game technically compatible? Compatibility alone does not grant streaming permission.
- Is this exact store version supported? Steam, Battle.net, Xbox/Microsoft Store and Ubisoft Connect entries can differ.
- Does the listing appear in GeForce NOW? NVIDIA’s catalog—not publisher ownership—is the practical test.
Therefore, neither “all Activision Blizzard games are gone” nor “the entire Battle.net catalog is supported” is accurate. Region, edition, downloadable content, subscription availability and local licensing can also change the result. Ubisoft’s rights arrangement has specific European Economic Area terms, so catalogs should not be assumed identical worldwide.
Do you need to buy a game or subscribe?
Bring your own game
For a supported Steam, Battle.net, Epic, Xbox/Microsoft Store or Ubisoft Connect entry, you generally need access to that PC edition, the relevant linked account and the exact store option shown in GeForce NOW. A Steam purchase does not automatically authorize a Battle.net launch, and ownership never overrides NVIDIA’s title-level support list.

- Versatile compatibility: supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles and PC Win10 and above (including the game platform Steam).
- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
Ubisoft+ Premium
Ubisoft+ Premium can provide subscription access to the specific Activision and Blizzard games listed in Ubisoft’s cloud catalog, without buying each listed title separately. You still need a GeForce NOW membership, an active Ubisoft+ Premium subscription and the correct account linkage. Ubisoft+ is not equivalent to owning a Steam or Battle.net license.
Xbox PC Game Pass
NVIDIA supports Xbox PC Game Pass and supported individual Microsoft Store purchases, but only games released on GeForce NOW can be streamed. Check the Microsoft Store/Xbox listing and NVIDIA’s support page rather than assuming every Game Pass game works (Xbox Game Pass; NVIDIA support).

In July 2025, NVIDIA said Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III were moved out of the main Call of Duty HQ launcher and would become standalone downloads. A missing Call of Duty HQ result therefore does not prove that all Activision games were removed. Search for the individual title and inspect each available store version.

Battle.net login and support
NVIDIA announced Battle.net single sign-on for supported games including Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV in December 2025 (NVIDIA announcement). This reduces repeated logins but does not establish support for every Battle.net game, beta, test realm, regional build or alternate launcher.

- Search the exact game name in the GeForce NOW app.
- Check every store option shown, including Steam, Battle.net, Xbox/Microsoft Store and Ubisoft Connect.
- Confirm ownership of the PC edition or an active Ubisoft+ Premium/Game Pass entitlement.
- Link the required NVIDIA, Steam, Battle.net, Microsoft, Activision or Ubisoft account.
- Restart GeForce NOW after account linking, then launch the same store entry again.
- Check NVIDIA’s known-issues page for title-specific outages and limitations.
Steam “ACCESS DENIED”
NVIDIA documents a rare Steam “ACCESS DENIED” error affecting some Call of Duty launches. Its recommended workaround is to quit and try again.
Activision two-factor authentication
Activision account setup involving two-factor authentication can open a browser and terminate the active GeForce NOW session. Complete the account setup locally, then relaunch the game.

- World of Warcraft is not supported through macOS Safari because required hotkeys can exit fullscreen gameplay; use the native macOS app.
- The two World of Warcraft Classic versions are separate entries. You cannot switch versions or servers during streaming.
Overwatch 2 Highlights
Overwatch 2 Highlights cannot be saved to the local device through GeForce NOW.
Which option fits your situation?
| Situation | Most suitable route | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| You already own a supported PC edition | GeForce NOW bring-your-own-game access (official page) | Support remains title-, store- and region-specific |
| You want a catalog subscription including the listed Activision/Blizzard games | Ubisoft+ Premium cloud catalog (official page) | Requires separate GeForce NOW membership; standard editions and regional limits may apply |
| You already subscribe to Game Pass | Supported Xbox PC or Microsoft Store entry | Game Pass access does not make every catalog game streamable |
| You want maximum storefront independence | Local gaming PC or console | Higher hardware cost and local installation and updates |
Bottom line
Activision Blizzard games are not universally absent from GeForce NOW. The February 2020 removal really happened, but selected games returned through NVIDIA-supported store entries and Ubisoft+ Premium after Microsoft’s acquisition and the resulting cloud-rights arrangements. To play one today, verify the exact title, storefront, region and account path in NVIDIA’s catalog; then check whether you need to own the PC edition, subscribe to Ubisoft+ Premium, or hold both Ubisoft+ and GeForce NOW memberships.
