What is Slash Quest!?
You play as Shep, an unlikely hero tasked with returning the Queen’s lost talking sword, Swordie, to the castle. Swordie grows as it is used, and that oversized, ever-changing weapon shapes the game’s combat and movement. The result is a bright, comedic fantasy adventure rather than a grim or realistic hack-and-slash game.

The game originally launched on Apple Arcade on October 2, 2020, according to Noodlecake’s historical game information. Its Android release followed on April 11, 2024. Is Slash Quest! free on Android?
It is free to download and start, but it is not a fully free game: Google Play labels the Big Green Pillow app as a demo, and a one-time in-app purchase unlocks the complete game. The current listing does not expose a reliable full-game price in the available information. Check the purchase price shown in Google Play for your country rather than relying on launch-era figures. You fight creatures and bosses, navigate hazards, upgrade skills, and explore colorful fantasy environments. The Google Play listing classifies it as Action, Platformer, Hack & slash, and Casual; it is single-player and playable offline. Breakmaster Cylinder composed the soundtrack, according to the listing.
Why the controls may take practice
Slash Quest! is built around “simple yet unfamiliar” controls for handling Swordie’s unusual size and growth. That design is part of the game’s identity, but it may feel awkward if you expect a standard virtual joystick and separate attack button. The developer advertises customizable controls, and player reviews describe a learning curve: some enjoy the novelty, while others find the movement slippery or frustrating.

Check the developer before installing
Google Play has a separate app called Slash Quest Halfbrick+, published by Halfbrick Studios. It is associated with Halfbrick’s subscription service and is described as including the game without ads or in-app purchases for subscribers. That is a different listing and payment model from the Big Green Pillow demo and one-time unlock.

It is a good fit for players who like quirky indie mechanics, colorful short-form adventures, and experimenting with touch controls. The demo lets you sample its central idea before committing to the unlock. It is less suited to players looking for a large open world, a lengthy action RPG, or familiar mobile combat controls. Google Play currently rates the listing Teen, so its cute art style should not be taken as a universal age recommendation.
