Xbox confirmed on January 8, 2026, that its fourth Developer_Direct would air January 22 at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern and 6 p.m. UK time. The pre-event lineup named Fable, Forza Horizon 6 and Beast of Reincarnation; Xbox promised gameplay and developer insights from the teams making them.
When was Xbox Developer_Direct?
The showcase took place Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern / 6 p.m. UK time. Xbox’s January 15 viewing guide listed the official Xbox YouTube and Twitch channels as streams and described English audio description, American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) viewing options. Xbox’s viewing guide has the access and stream details.
What did Xbox announce before the event?
In its January 8 announcement, Xbox said Developer_Direct would feature new gameplay and insights directly from the studios developing the games. The announced lineup was:
- Fable — from Playground Games.
- Forza Horizon 6 — from Playground Games.
- Beast of Reincarnation — from Game Freak.
Xbox described the showcase as the fourth Developer_Direct and placed it within the company’s 25th anniversary year. Those details and the announced lineup appear in the official announcement.

Why was it described as following a quiet Game Awards?
The “silent TGA” framing came from a December 15, 2025, All Tech Nerd report, not from Xbox’s event announcement. All Tech Nerd said Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty disclosed the January showcase in a Variety interview after The Game Awards, and attributed this remark to him: “We have more coming next year than we can fit into a single Dev Direct in January.” The quote and context are secondary reporting; Xbox’s January announcement independently confirmed the event date and initial games.
All Tech Nerd’s December report provides that post-awards context. The official Xbox pages establish the schedule and show details, rather than the earlier interview account.
