The exact first roadmap announcement—and what it originally promised—could not be verified, so the timeline below distinguishes confirmed release announcements from the original plan.
What the roadmap record does—and does not—show
The available official record confirms the game’s launch, later platform expansion, and several released additions through April 2026. It does not establish the date, wording, or specific schedule of the first roadmap artifact. That means later releases can show what arrived, but cannot be treated as proof of what developers had promised at launch.
The game launched on September 4, 2024, according to the Age of Empires Support FAQ. At launch, the FAQ listed PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud gaming availability, and said cross-play was available. PlayStation 5 was added later.

What the post-launch additions contain
Immortal Pillars and the PS5 release
World’s Edge’s 2025 announcement set March 4 as the release date for Immortal Pillars, introducing the Chinese pantheon. It also said PS5 players would join with the expansion and receive the same content as Xbox and PC players. This is the point at which the confirmed platform story extends beyond the launch platforms.
