There are 40 Mini Medals to find in the Dragon Quest I portion of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. Use this checklist by location and landmark, not by number: guide numbering is for navigation and does not appear in-game. Some medals require the Thief’s Key, Magic Key, or Ultimate Key, and one is tied to the Zalen sidequest.
How to use this checklist
The locations follow RPG Site’s expected collection route. Other guides number the same medals differently, so do not treat the numbers below as in-game identifiers. Medals can be in containers or hidden at map landmarks; check pots, barrels, drawers, chests, graves, and secret spots.

Finding medals without losing track
- Work by named area and landmark rather than trying to match a guide number to an in-game display.
- When you reach a new town or rest stop, inspect drawers, pots, and barrels as well as chests; several listed medals are in ordinary containers.
- Revisit locked locations after obtaining the named key. The Tantegel 2F and Wayfarer’s Chapel entries require the Thief’s Key, the castle backyard shrine requires the Magic Key, and four late entries require the Ultimate Key.
- Secret spots and other late-game areas may not be accessible early in the adventure. Gamer Guides says Nose for Treasure and Snoop can help locate nearby treasure; their usefulness depends on your current progression.
- If a floor label does not match your game, use the place and landmark as the primary clue. The Shrine of Rain chest on the late route is the known 5F-versus-6F discrepancy.
