How to choose armor
Defense and evasion are the core numeric comparisons, but a special effect can matter more than a modest difference in either stat. Consider what the next encounter threatens and what the character needs: preventing a status condition, resisting or nullifying a damage type, recovering HP or MP, or improving a relevant stat can be more valuable than raw defense. Confirm category eligibility before comparing items.
- For a known incoming damage type, prioritize a matching resistance or nullification effect.
- Against status-heavy encounters, status prevention can be more useful than a small defense gain.
- For a damage-focused build, consider effects that improve the relevant attack type or stats.
- For a longer fight, recovery effects may provide value that a single defensive stat does not.

Robes
The Xbox Series X guide lists these robe examples: Pilgrim’s Cloak, Apprentice Surcoat, Pure White Robe, Sanctor’s Mantle, Exorcist’s Cassock, Desert Robe, Gilded Vestments, False Monk’s Robes, and Soultaker Robe. Robes offer a different profile from heavy armor, including magic-related bonuses or specialized effects. Documented examples in the guide include Magic bonuses, evasion against Dark, and MP recovery after squad battles. Check the individual item description for its exact effect and route before choosing one; the available listing does not establish complete acquisition details for every robe.

Light armor and clothes
The PS5 equipment reference includes light armor such as Leather Cuirass, Beast Jerkin, Bone Vest, Iron Cuirass, Silver Cuirass, Damascus Vest, Sandglass Cuirass, Naval Waistcoat, Shell Vest, Fusskampf, Spike Vest, Comet Cuirass, Orichalcum Vest, Bone Segmentata, Healing Hauberk, Rock Lion Cuirass, Hell Rock Cuirass, Red Lion Cuirass, Inferno Rock Cuirass, Flameseal Corselet, and Hero’s Cuirass, as well as numerous uniforms and outfits. The following are useful examples of effects to look for:
- Healing Hauberk: HP regeneration.
- Hell Rock Cuirass: Pierce resistance.
- Inferno Rock Cuirass: Fire resistance.
- Flameseal Corselet: Fire nullification.
- Hero’s Cuirass: +5 to all stats.

Where armor comes from
Armor acquisition varies by item. The equipment guide documents several kinds of route, so distinguish a vendor purchase from a chest or quest rather than treating every piece as dungeon loot.
- Shops: Maximilian Armour is listed at Far and Wide Armours in Port Brilehaven; Golden Armour is listed in Ligno Village.
- Chests or dungeon pickups: Weighted Mail is listed in a blue orb in Charadrius, Port/Starboard Corridor.
- Quests: Cardinal Dragon Armour is associated with The Trial of the Dragon.
