Gears of War: E-Day has four classes in Horde Siege: Assault, Breacher, Marksman, and Medic. The word “Ranked” can be misleading here: The Coalition’s official overview describes Ranked as a Versus playlist progression system, not a best-to-worst ranking of those classes. It does not publish an official class tier list.
All four Gears of War: E-Day classes
The Coalition says players choose a class before each Horde Siege mission. Each class has a starting loadout, a combat bonus, unlock progression, and a Tactical Gear ability. Character skins can be paired with any class. The roles and abilities below are the developer’s descriptions, not results of comparative class testing. The Coalition’s multiplayer overview, published July 30, 2026, is the source for these details.
| Class | Combat range and job | Tactical Gear | Stated class bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | Flexible midrange combat for varied situations | Sonic Disruptor stuns incoming enemy waves, especially near defended objectives | Increased damage while in cover |
| Breacher | Close-range frontline pushes | Adrenaline Injector refills health and reduces incoming damage | Improved resistance to status effects and melee damage |
| Marksman | Precision damage at longer sightlines | Pulse Drone tags Locust units for the player and squad | Improved critical-hit damage |
| Medic | Midrange support focused on revives | Stim Vaporizer heals and revives nearby Gears, including downed soldiers from other squads | Faster health regeneration |
Assault: flexible cover-based damage
Assault is the adaptable midrange choice. Its cover-damage bonus rewards fighting from cover, while the Sonic Disruptor offers crowd control when a wave threatens a defended objective.
Breacher: sustain for close-range pushes
Breacher is built for the frontline. The Adrenaline Injector’s health refill and damage reduction support an aggressive push, and its resistances help against status effects and melee attacks.

Does E-Day Ranked use these classes?
No: the official overview places class selection in Horde Siege and describes Ranked as a Versus playlist option. Ranked and Social are the two playlist categories in Versus; each Ranked mode playlist has its own rank and skill rating.
After placement matches, a player receives a Skill Division and a Rank. The Coalition describes Skill Division as a relative matchmaking measure that can fluctuate. Rank Rating tracks ladder progress and changes with match results and performance: wins add points and losses remove them. These systems measure player progress in a Versus playlist; they do not order Assault, Breacher, Marksman, and Medic by strength.

Which E-Day class is best?
The official overview does not declare a best class or provide class win rates, pick rates, or measured strength comparisons. A useful choice depends on the job your squad needs: flexible cover damage, a close-range push, precision and enemy tagging, or healing and revives. Mission demands and later balance changes can affect how valuable each role feels, but the listed bonuses alone do not establish a universal ranking.

The Coalition describes Horde Siege as a 12-player evolution of Gears’ wave-based survival mode. Squads fight across maps set in Kalona, take on missions and emergent challenges, then face a final fight and extraction. Class selection belongs to this mode, rather than Versus Ranked.
