Animal Crossing: New Horizons has eight flower species, each with its own color roster. Watering flowers and placing compatible blooms where offspring have room to grow can produce hybrids, including colors you cannot buy as seeds. Use the roster below to check what exists, then treat the breeding pairs as starter routes—not guarantees for every flower with those colors.
All flower species and colors in ACNH
The following is the visible color roster reported by GamesRadar+ and Nintendo Life. Roses also have a special gold outcome; it is not an ordinary color in the same sense as the others.
| Flower species | Colors |
|---|---|
| Cosmos | Red, yellow, white, orange, pink, black |
| Hyacinths | Red, yellow, white, orange, pink, blue, purple |
| Lilies | Red, orange, yellow, white, pink, black |
| Mums (chrysanthemums) | Red, yellow, white, pink, purple, green |
| Pansies | Red, yellow, white, orange, blue, purple |
| Roses | Red, orange, yellow, white, pink, blue, purple, black; special gold rose outcome |
| Tulips | Red, orange, yellow, white, pink, purple, black |
| Windflowers | Red, orange, white, pink, blue, purple |
Sources: GamesRadar+ and Nintendo Life. Flowers that look like the same color are not necessarily genetically interchangeable: seed-grown flowers and hybrid descendants can have different breeding properties, as outlined in the community genetics guide.
How flower breeding works
Nintendo describes the basic activity this way: “Water your garden plot until your plants bloom, then harvest or cross-pollinate them. You may grow a rare color!” (Nintendo.) In practice, plant flowers, water them, and leave open space beside the parents for offspring when you are trying to cross-pollinate. A color-pair recipe is a useful starting point, but it does not establish that every flower with those colors will produce the same result; parentage matters for more involved outcomes.

Introductory hybrid pairs
Nintendo Life documents these accessible starting combinations:

| White + white | Mums | Purple |
| Purple + purple | Mums | Green |

| Blue + blue | Hyacinths | Purple |
These are introductory recipes, not a complete breeding chart or a guarantee that any two visually matching flowers will work. For targets requiring intermediate hybrids or specific ancestry, follow a genetics-based route rather than relying on color alone (Nintendo Life; community genetics guide).

Finding flower varieties you do not have
Your local shop may not stock every flower variety. If you are missing a species, Nintendo Life notes that another player’s island can provide access to varieties unavailable locally. This solves the availability problem; it does not remove the need to use suitable parent flowers for a particular hybrid.

Gold roses are listed as a special rose outcome, rather than one more standard color in the roster. The sources identified here do not establish a sufficiently supported, complete set of prerequisites for explaining the full route, so this guide does not give a step-by-step recipe.
