Mister Mushroom has two separate seven-stop quests: one in Hollow Knight’s Hallownest and another in Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Pharloom. The routes, prerequisites, and interactions differ, so follow the section for the game you’re playing. Both routes culminate in a special scene after you finish the game.
Hollow Knight: all seven Mister Mushroom locations
In the original Hollow Knight, Mister Mushroom starts appearing after you have killed all three Dreamers. Find and speak to him at each stop in order. Equip the Spore Shroom charm before talking to him: it lets you understand his regular dialogue and advance the quest. The charm is in Fungal Wastes near an acid pool, and reaching it requires Mantis Claw.
The hidden Riddle Tablet that points to this route is in a secret room at the bottom-right of Kingdom’s Edge. Its opening is on the right side of a shaft above the large Geo deposit. With Spore Shroom equipped, the tablet reads: “We speak the path of the Master Herald, he who would signal an Age’s end.”
- Fungal Wastes: Search the room where Cornifer previously stood.
- Kingdom’s Edge: Look near Isma’s Grove, by the source of acid blight.
- Deepnest: Find him near Galien in the dark, winding depths.
- Howling Cliffs: Check inside Mato’s hut.
- Ancient Basin: Search near the Monarch Wings location.
- Fog Canyon: Look near the Overgrown Mound.
- King’s Pass: Find him on the path of the Wyrm for the final encounter.
After each conversation, he moves to the next location. Completing all seven stops and then finishing the game awards the Passing of the Age achievement and reveals a secret cutscene after the normal ending.

Silksong: all seven Mister Mushroom locations
The Silksong quest is a separate route in Pharloom; the Hallownest locations above do not apply. It begins in Act 3 by examining a Lore Tablet in Putrified Ducts. The tablet is above and to the right of Pale Lake and Fleatopia, and reaching it requires Silk Soar. It is disabled in Act 2. Its riddle begins: “We speak the wish of the Master Herald, he who signs an Age’s end.”
At the first six stops, play Needolin to summon Mister Mushroom. After each encounter, he moves on. He is already visible at Mount Fay. The fifth stop also requires the Key of the Apostate.
