Oblivion: Remastered console commands are available only on PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S do not have the PC developer console. On PC, press ~ during gameplay, enter a command, press Enter, then press ~ again to close it. Using a command disables achievements for the affected save or playthrough, so create a backup first.
The remaster launched on April 22, 2025, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass. Bethesda announced a Switch 2 version for August 11, 2026, but no official documentation confirms developer-console support for that version.
How to open and use the console on PC
- Start Oblivion: Remastered and enter gameplay.
- Press the
~key, normally immediately to the left of1on a US keyboard. - Type the command, replacing placeholders such as
[amount]or[Quest ID]with real values. - Press Enter to execute it.
- Press
~again to close the console.
Commands are generally entered without quotation marks. There is no documented Settings-menu option for enabling the console, and current guides do not document a controller-only way to open it. See the basic procedure in Destructoid’s command guide.
Targeting an NPC or object
Open the console, then click the NPC or object in the world. Its selected reference should appear at the top of the console. Commands such as kill, disable, unlock, setav and additem will then operate on that target.

Use the player. prefix when the command must affect your character—for example, player.additem F 1000. Without that prefix, a targeted command can affect the selected NPC or object instead.
Important warning about achievements and saves
The remaster disables achievements after console-command use. The reliable documented trigger is using a command, not merely opening the console; reports about exactly when the restriction is recorded are inconsistent.
Save before experimenting. Commands that alter quests, inventories, NPCs, objects or global settings can create persistent problems. For achievement-safe play, use a separate command-free character or save set. Reloading an older save may not reliably restore achievement eligibility.

If a corpse has disappeared, resurrect 1 cannot target it directly. If its reference remains available, use enable first and then resurrect 1. The listed stopcombat and startcombat commands do not work in the remaster. Although startconversation [Reference ID], [topic parameter] is listed as working, it can freeze NPCs or trigger unintended dialogue, so it is not a dependable general-purpose command.
Quest commands
| Command | Syntax | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Complete one quest | completequest [Quest ID] |
Completes the specified quest. |
| Complete every quest stage | caqs |
Completes all quest stages; unsafe as a normal fix. |

| Show all quests | sq |
Displays quests and stages. |
| Show current quest | sqt |
Displays the current quest. |
| Move to quest target | movetoqt |
Teleports the player to the current quest target. |
Do not assume quest stages increase by 10 per objective. Stage numbers are quest-specific. Use getstage, showquesttargets or sqt before changing anything. A wrong setstage value can skip scripts or leave the quest in an unintended state, while caqs can affect every quest.

The remaster combines Unreal Engine 5 with the original game systems, so classic 2006 command lists are not automatically accurate. Current command testing and community reports document multiple replacements and removed functions; see PC Gamer’s tested command list and the Nexus Mods discussion of commands not responding.
Troubleshooting
The console opens, but nothing happens
Test a known working command such as tgm, tfh or toggledebugcamera. If those work, the original command you tried may have been removed or replaced rather than the console being broken.
The command affected the wrong NPC or object
Open the console before clicking the target and confirm its reference appears at the top. For player effects, use the appropriate player. command.
I cannot move after using a camera or movement command
Enter Walk after Ghost. If controls were disabled during a cinematic, use enableplayercontrols.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRank #4
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernises the 2006 Game of the Year with all new stunning visuals and refined gameplay.
A quest command made the quest worse
Reload the pre-command backup. Quest stages are not universal increments of 10, and a wrong stage can skip required scripts. Avoid caqs except on a disposable experimental save.
The game or save is behaving abnormally
Reload a save made before the command. Commands can cause crashes, strange behavior and persistent world-state or quest problems.
Platform availability
The documented developer console is a PC feature. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions do not provide it, regardless of whether you play through Game Pass. Bethesda’s announced Switch 2 version was scheduled for August 11, 2026, but no official source in the available documentation confirms console-command support for that edition.
For platform details, consult Bethesda’s launch guide and its Switch 2 announcement.
