The Sphinx starts at Mountain Shrine in Vermund, then moves to Frontier Shrine; the four riddles at the second shrine appear in a randomized order, so match your on-screen riddle name to the table rather than expecting a fixed sequence.
Where to find the Sphinx and how the quest is structured
You first meet the Sphinx at Mountain Shrine in Vermund. After the first five riddles, she relocates to Frontier Shrine, west of Checkpoint Rest Town. Find her there and speak to her to complete Reunion; the remaining four riddle encounters then appear in a randomized order. The walkthroughs from PowerPyx, Push Square, and GameSpot describe routes to the first shrine through Misty Marshes or Ancient Battleground/Worldsend Cavern, and a river-and-canyon approach to the second.

A Portcrystal near a shrine can make repeat travel easier. You can also try to ride the Sphinx as she departs, if you reach her in time. The table below is organized by riddle name, not the order in which you will receive the Frontier Shrine riddles.
All ten Sphinx riddles, solutions, and rewards

How to solve Rumination without missing the deadline
Rumination is easy to misread as a general scavenger hunt, but the Finder’s Token must be collected at the location of your first Seeker’s Token in the current playthrough. The seven-day limit is in-game time, so do not leave the search until you are close to the deadline.

- Think back to where you first picked up a Seeker’s Token in this playthrough.
- Return to that exact location and collect the Finder’s Token.
- Bring the Finder’s Token back to the Sphinx within seven in-game days.
If you cannot remember your first-token location, the guides suggest retracing the route where you explored early in the playthrough. PowerPyx says that location resets in New Game+.
How to get Recollection’s statue count right
Recollection asks how many riddles you have solved. Place one statue for each riddle you have correctly completed by that point, including Reunion if you have finished it. Because the Frontier Shrine riddles can arrive in a different order, do not copy a count from someone else’s run. The already-unlocked reward chests can help you cross-check your progress.

How to claim the final chest and Eternal Wakestone
After the riddles, the Sphinx attempts to leave. The guide-backed easy route is to prepare a physical bow and the Unmaking Arrow before triggering the final test: switch to Archer or Warfarer, claim the arrow, and aim at the Sphinx’s beast body or legs. PowerPyx warns that a shot to her face may not kill her. The bow-and-arrow method is presented as a reliable, straightforward approach, not the only conceivable way to fight her.
When she is defeated, she drops a key and 10,000 gold. Use the key on the large chest behind her to receive the Eternal Wakestone. Do not wait until the last moment to change vocation: the final sequence does not offer a convenient opportunity to switch.

Save precautions and fragile steps
GameSpot recommends making a backup save before riddles, and PowerPyx also discusses recovery in connection with the amphora and NPC identification. Save behavior can vary by platform and may change with updates, so treat this as a precaution rather than a guarantee that a particular recovery method will work.
