This checklist separates the two rosters and gives the reported locations or unlock conditions, so you can identify what is available in your version of the game. How Spirit Ashes work
Spirit Ashes are summon items that call allies into a fight. You need the Spirit Calling Bell and the corresponding ashes. Bandai Namco’s starter guide says Renna can give you the bell and your first ashes at the Church of Elleh after you obtain the Spectral Steed Whistle. If you miss that encounter, the guide says the bell can later be bought at Roundtable Hold. Bandai Namco starter guide.

Summoning is available only when a rebirth monument is nearby and its icon appears on the left side of the screen. Only one type of spirit can be summoned at a time, and spirits cannot be summoned during multiplayer. A spirit leaves if its HP reaches zero, the boss is defeated, it moves too far from the monument, or you use the same ashes again. Bandai Namco starter guide.

The Iris of Grace decisions for Queelign and Jolán affect which Spirit Ash reward you receive; treat each as a quest choice rather than a routine pickup. Jolán and Anna requires combining Jolán’s ashes with Anna. There is no verified universal strongest summon in the available evidence. A practical comparison starts with what the game and the roster tell you about each option:

- Resource cost: check the ash’s FP or HP cost against your character’s current resources. The location guide reports 55 FP for Lone Wolf, 132 FP for Black Knife Tiche, and 660 HP for Mimic Tear; verify the current in-game item requirements before relying on those guide figures. Location guide.
- Group or single spirit: consider whether you want one ally or several spirits, and how that fits your purpose in the encounter.
- Availability: a boss reward, optional dungeon, or NPC decision may put an ash much later in reach than an early pickup.
- Build and purpose: consider whether you need a distraction, ranged support, pressure, or a summon that fits your build; these are selection questions, not proof of a universal ranking.
- Upgrade materials: check the item and upgrade requirements in-game, since standard and special ashes use different upgrade paths.
Bandai Namco’s 2024 graphic names Taylew the Golem Smith, Jolán and Anna, Demi-Human Swordsman Yosh, Inquisitor Ashes, and Divine Bird Warrior Ornis among the top five Spirit Ashes in its reported DLC activity. That is an activity ranking, not evidence that these are objectively the strongest summons.
