Amazon Luna launched on select Xfinity TV and streaming boxes in the United States on December 11, 2025. It streams games to your TV without local downloads or a conventional console, but it does not work on every Comcast cable box: Xfinity lists the X1 Xi6, X1 XiOne and Xumo Stream Box XiOne as compatible families. Check your own box before buying a controller or subscribing.
What Comcast and Amazon launched
Luna is Amazon’s cloud-gaming service, integrated into Xfinity’s Entertainment OS ecosystem alongside television and streaming apps. The Xfinity box streams the game from remote servers rather than rendering it locally, so there are no game downloads or installations on the box. Comcast said the U.S. launch reached millions of eligible Xfinity devices; that figure refers to the company’s rollout announcement, not a guarantee that every customer has access. Comcast’s launch announcement describes the partnership and launch.
Cloud delivery removes the need to buy a console for Luna, but you still need an eligible TV device, an Amazon account, internet access and—outside certain party games—an input device. Availability can vary by device, market, account and software rollout.

Do not assume that an older X1 box, a legacy cable box, or another Xfinity streaming device is compatible. The simplest check is to press the voice button on the Xfinity remote and say “Play Luna,” or search for “Luna.” If it does not appear in search or the Apps list, Xfinity says that device is not currently compatible. How to open Luna and start a game
- Open the Apps list on the Xfinity TV box and select Amazon Luna.
- Choose Get Started.
- Link an Amazon account. You can scan the on-screen QR code or visit amazon.com/code and enter the code shown on the TV.
- Pair a compatible Bluetooth controller, then choose a game to stream.
For GameNight party experiences, launch the experience and scan the QR code shown on the TV with a phone. The phone becomes a controller for those games, and other players can scan to join. Xfinity’s Luna page has current setup and availability information.

An Amazon account is required. Xfinity says standard data charges may apply, so check your plan terms if you have a data cap. Prime inclusion does not mean every Luna game is included, and other subscriptions or access options may apply to particular titles.

The lineup changes, and access can depend on your membership or subscription. Amazon’s explainer says Prime members get a rotating selection of more than 50 games. Xfinity currently promotes examples such as Hogwarts Legacy and Clue; Comcast’s launch announcement also named Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg and The Jackbox Party Pack 9. Those examples are not promises that a title will remain available or be included with Prime. Check the Luna interface for the current catalog and each game’s access requirements.

Do you need a controller?
For most Luna games, plan on using a compatible controller or, where supported, a mouse and keyboard. Amazon and Xfinity describe support for the Luna Controller, Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers including DualShock 4, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and some other Bluetooth controllers. That does not guarantee every model will pair with every Xfinity box; consult Xfinity’s current compatibility information before purchasing.
A phone is a controller for GameNight-style party experiences, not a universal touchscreen controller for the entire Luna catalog. Amazon’s explanation of supported control methods is at aboutamazon.com.

Internet requirements and performance limits
Amazon recommends a sustained connection of at least 10 Mbps for the best Luna experience. This is Amazon’s service recommendation, not a Comcast speed-tier requirement or a guarantee of smooth play. Cloud gaming also depends on latency, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi quality, household traffic and the route between your connection and the game servers. A fast plan alone does not ensure low input delay.

- If play stutters or controls feel delayed, reduce Wi-Fi interference and pause other heavy streaming or uploads to see whether congestion is involved.
- Check signal quality between the router and Xfinity box; a weak wireless link can undermine an otherwise fast connection.
- Consider data usage if your plan has a cap; Xfinity warns that standard data charges may apply.
The integration is promoted alongside Xfinity Internet, but the cited consumer information does not establish a mandatory Xfinity speed tier. Do not treat an internet upgrade as a fix for an incompatible box, a pairing problem or a game that requires another subscription.

Who is Luna on Xfinity a good fit for?
- Worth trying: Prime members, families and casual players who already have a compatible box and want living-room or party games without console downloads.
- Less suitable: Competitive players who are particularly sensitive to input latency, people with unreliable internet or strict data limits, and players seeking a large, stable local library or physical game ownership.
- Not ready to subscribe: Start by checking whether the box supports Luna and whether the Prime selection or GameNight covers what you want. Consider Luna Premium only if its current catalog justifies the recurring cost for you.

If Luna does not appear or will not start
The app is missing
- Restart the Xfinity box, then search again for “Luna” with the voice remote.
- Confirm whether the hardware is an Xi6, XiOne or Xumo Stream Box XiOne.
- Check Xfinity’s current compatibility page. If your listed model still lacks the app, ask Xfinity support whether software rollout or account availability is involved.
Amazon account linking loops or fails
Sign out of an unintended Amazon account on the phone or browser, reopen Luna to generate a fresh code, then scan the new QR code or enter the displayed code at amazon.com/code. Confirm that the linked account has the Prime membership or other subscription you intend to use.
The controller is not detected
Put it in pairing mode, remove its existing pairing from the Xfinity box, and disconnect it from nearby phones, computers or consoles before trying again. Restart both devices and verify the model against Xfinity’s supported-controller information. A phone can still be used for supported GameNight experiences while controller support is being sorted out.
