HotHardware reported the Fire TV Stick 4K bundle at $68.90, listed as 37% off, and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max bundle at $78.90, listed as 34% off. Those were event prices reported on July 17, 2024—not current offers.
What the Prime Day Xbox bundles included
HotHardware’s July 17, 2024 report described two bundle options: each paired a Fire TV Stick with an Xbox controller and a one-month Game Pass Ultimate offer. The included month applied only to new users, so existing subscribers should not count it as part of the bundle’s value without checking the offer terms.
| 2024 Prime Day bundle | Reported price | Reported discount |
|---|---|---|
| Fire TV Stick 4K with Xbox controller and one-month Game Pass Ultimate offer | $68.90 | 37% off |
| Fire TV Stick 4K Max with Robot White Xbox Core Wireless Controller and one-month Game Pass Ultimate offer | $78.90 | 34% off |
These exact prices and discounts come from HotHardware’s dated report, not Amazon’s broader Prime Day announcement. Amazon’s July 10, 2024 release identified a Fire TV Stick with Xbox Wireless Controller bundle among its select device and bundle deals, but its advertised “up to 68%” savings applied across those offers, not specifically to either Xbox bundle. Amazon’s 2024 Prime Day announcement also said the event deals were for Prime members.
Can you play Xbox games on Fire TV without an Xbox console?
Yes. In its June 27, 2024 launch announcement, Xbox described cloud gaming through the Xbox app on select Fire TV devices; a console was not part of the listed setup. For the Game Pass Ultimate cloud catalog, Xbox said players needed a supported Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. Xbox named the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) as supported devices at launch.

What to check before buying a similar setup
- Device model: The launch announcement named the 2023 Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max. Confirm the current model’s Xbox app compatibility rather than assuming every Fire TV device supports cloud gaming.
- Controller: The cloud setup requires a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. Xbox’s launch examples included several Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
- Membership: Game Pass Ultimate was required for the cloud catalog in Xbox’s launch guidance; Fortnite was the named no-membership exception.
- Included month: The month bundled into the reported Prime Day offer was for new users only. Existing members should verify eligibility and terms.
- Price: The listed bundle prices and discounts were specific to Prime Day 2024. Compare current device and controller prices and check current membership terms before deciding whether a bundle is worthwhile.
Xbox’s June 27, 2024 announcement said Game Pass Ultimate members were in over 25 countries. That is the reach stated at launch, not a guarantee of present-day availability everywhere. Xbox’s Fire TV cloud-gaming announcement contains the launch details.
