AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.7.1, released on July 19, 2024, added developer-integrated Radeon Anti-Lag 2 support to Dota 2 when using DirectX 11. The feature targets frame pacing and input latency, not average frame-rate increases. The Windows 10/11 driver also added support for several games and fixed stutter, corruption, display, and application problems, while leaving a few known crashes and recording issues unresolved.
Because 24.7.1 is now a historical release, install it today only for a specific compatibility or troubleshooting reason. In most cases, compare your problem with AMD’s current release notes first.
What 24.7.1 changed for Dota 2
The headline change is Radeon Anti-Lag 2 in Dota 2. AMD describes Anti-Lag 2 as an in-game implementation that coordinates CPU and GPU work to pace frames more effectively and reduce input latency. In the 24.7.1 release, AMD specifically listed support through the DirectX 11 renderer; the notes do not promise equivalent operation with Vulkan or every other Dota 2 API.
Anti-Lag 2 is not a frame-rate booster. AMD made no Dota 2 FPS claim for this driver, and any latency difference depends on frame rate, CPU/GPU load, refresh rate, frame pacing, and the rest of the system. It also does not replace a high-refresh display or measure the complete click-to-photon path.

Unlike the original driver-level Radeon Anti-Lag feature, Anti-Lag 2 requires the game developer to integrate it. AMD’s Anti-Lag documentation therefore lists it as available only in selected, integrated games and on compatible RDNA-generation Radeon hardware.

How to enable and measure Anti-Lag 2 in Dota 2
Labels and menu placement can change as the game is updated, so look for the Anti-Lag 2 option in Dota 2’s video or latency settings rather than relying on an old screenshot.

- Confirm that your Radeon GPU or integrated graphics is supported and that Windows 10 or Windows 11 is running.
- Install 24.7.1 from AMD’s official release page only if you specifically need this archived driver. A current supported driver is normally the safer choice.
- Launch Dota 2 and select the DirectX 11 renderer if the game is using another API. Restart the game after changing the renderer.
- Find and enable the in-game Anti-Lag 2 setting.
- Use a repeatable test—such as the same practice map, camera movement, and frame-rate limit—rather than judging a single match by feel.
- Press Alt+Shift+L to activate the Anti-Lag 2 Latency Monitor. Repeating the shortcut cycles through no metrics; FPS; FPS plus latency in milliseconds; FPS, latency, and frame count; and all of those values plus a legend.
- Hold the right Ctrl key to compare Anti-Lag 2 enabled and disabled under otherwise unchanged conditions.
The overlay is a comparison aid, not proof that every part of end-to-end system latency has been measured. Background activity, refresh rate, frame rate, CPU load, and GPU load can all change the number.

Hardware, operating-system, and laptop limits
The 24.7.1 package was WHQL-certified for Windows 10 and Windows 11 and listed desktop Radeon families including RX 5000, RX 6000, and RX 7000 models, plus corresponding mobile products and AMD processors with Radeon graphics. AMD’s specifications reference is available at amd.com/en/products/specifications/graphics.html.

That broad driver list does not mean every listed GPU receives Anti-Lag 2. The feature requires compatible RDNA-based graphics, game-side integration, and the supported DirectX 11 path in Dota 2. A compatible example is the RDNA 3 Radeon RX 7600, but eligibility should be checked for the exact GPU and driver.
- Laptop and all-in-one owners may need the manufacturer’s driver for display, power, mux, hotkey, and other platform-specific functions.
- AMD stated that the standard Adrenalin package did not include support for handheld gaming devices; handheld users should use the device maker’s driver.
- Buying a new Radeon solely for Anti-Lag 2 is difficult to justify. Existing compatible hardware is the sensible starting point.
Complete list of fixes in 24.7.1
Games and rendering
- Reduced stutter when Radeon Anti-Lag and FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 frame generation were enabled together.
- Improved DirectX 12 stutter in Fortnite.
- Fixed or reduced texture corruption in TEKKEN 8 when ray tracing or upscaling was enabled.
- Fixed corruption in Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition with Radeon Boost enabled.
- Addressed intermittent crashes or corruption in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy with ray tracing enabled.
Display and applications
- Fixed Virtual Super Resolution or Display Color Enhancements becoming disabled after a driver upgrade.
- Addressed the inability to change display pixel format under certain Windows display languages.
- Addressed intermittent black corruption on scaled 3D models in Origin or OriginPro.
- Fixed black corruption when fast-forwarding in PotPlayer.
Known issues that remained
- Audio and video could intermittently go out of sync while recording with the AV1 codec in Adrenalin. AMD targeted a resolution for version 24.9.1.
- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess could intermittently crash on some Radeon RX 6600- and RX 6700-series GPUs.
- Black Myth: Wukong could intermittently crash or trigger driver timeouts.
These caveats matter for anyone recording AV1 video, using the affected RX 6000 cards with Kunitsu-Gami, or playing Black Myth: Wukong. A list of fixed and known issues is in AMD’s original 24.7.1 release notes.

What performance did AMD claim?
AMD reported gains for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess versus driver 24.6.1 under its specified test configuration:

Those are AMD’s vendor-tested results, not independent measurements and not Dota 2 benchmarks. They should not be generalized to other games, settings, or systems.

Should you install Adrenalin 24.7.1?
A reasonable choice when it was current
- Dota 2 players with compatible RDNA hardware who specifically wanted to test Anti-Lag 2.
- Users affected by the listed Fortnite, TEKKEN 8, Dying Light 2, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, display, or PotPlayer problems.
- Players seeking launch support for Zenless Zone Zero or Kunitsu-Gami.
- Users experiencing stutter with Anti-Lag and FSR 3 frame generation.
Reasons to avoid or postpone it
- A stable system with no need for the new game support or Dota 2 feature.
- Laptops dependent on OEM-specific drivers and platform controls.
- AV1 recording workflows, RX 6600/RX 6700 systems running Kunitsu-Gami, or play sessions affected by Black Myth: Wukong instability.
- Competitive players unwilling to troubleshoot a regression before an important match.
What to do in 2026
Do not treat 24.7.1 as the latest driver: it dates from July 19, 2024. Start with AMD’s current release and document your GPU model, Windows version, installed driver, Dota 2 renderer, and whether Anti-Lag 2 appears. Consider an archived 24.7.1 installation only when reproducing a specific old configuration or regression, and use the laptop or handheld manufacturer’s package where applicable.
If the Anti-Lag 2 option is missing
- Verify the installed driver version and exact GPU model.
- Confirm that Dota 2 is running DirectX 11, then restart the game.
- Update to a current supported driver instead of forcing an old package.
- On a laptop, test the OEM driver; on a handheld, use the device maker’s driver.
- Temporarily disable third-party overlays and tuning utilities.
- If the problem remains reproducible, submit it through AMD’s bug-reporting process with the renderer, driver, GPU, and Windows details.
The Bottom Line
Adrenalin 24.7.1 was a meaningful July 2024 latency and compatibility release for compatible Radeon users: Anti-Lag 2 arrived in Dota 2 through DirectX 11, but AMD did not promise higher Dota 2 FPS. Its fixes were useful, its known issues were real, and in 2026 a current AMD driver should normally be preferred over this archived version.
